St. Mary's Hospital

"I thought the staff were not very attentive to any of the patients, not just me. When I was being wheeled up to the room from recovery, the attendant wheeling the gurney banged every wall to the point where my oxygen tube flew out of my nose! My husband was livid! The staff don't seem to check the chart or communicate with each other, I was asked the same questions over and over again. The best nurse I had was the one I had my last day, and she had been pulled from another floor."

Antonio Macatol

"When I called to make an appointment with Dr. Macatol, Joyce said that appointments are not made until you attend a seminar by Dr. Macatol. The seminar is to inform you what to expect with this type of surgery. My husband and I attended the seminar. I found him to be very informative and open to any questions that we asked. I then called the next day and made an appointment. The appointment was made for the following week. I was amazed I was able to see him so quickly. Dr. Macatol gave a very thorough examination. I was surprised at how tiny his examining room was, this I was not crazy about, but if that is my only complaint that is not too bad! He again explained the procedure, and stressed the importance of following instructions and the lifetime aftercare involved. He also highly recommends you attend a support group meeting no matter what stage of the journey you are in. I did attend a support meeting which I found very helpful. He sits in on the meetings to answer any questions, however he does not participate unless asked. It is the patients' meeting, not his, and I thought that was very respectful of him. After my appointment, Joyce went over what needed to be done next. I found she was very helpful also. They make a great team."
