Lawrence Memorial Hospital

"Hospital stay was good. During change in shifts call bell responses were slower. Very clean hospital, I never had to ask for water. As it was constantly being filled. All medical staff was pleasant, more staff was present during the day shift. The hospital had hired rehab aides for day shift specifically for gastric by pass patients in addition to regular day staff."

Sheldon Randall

"I first heard of Dr. Randall from a patient of his. She highly reccomended him. I made an appointment for a consult. Yes it did take quite a few months for that appointment. Defintely worth the wait. I had my consult. Dr.Randall asked me many questions about my weight, and what had I done for weight loss programs. He told me if I was serious that I would need to meet with the nutrionist and psychologist. He then went into detail why he only does the roux en y open bypass,he also went into the risks explaining them all to me. As Dr.Randall was explaining the possiblity of galls stones. My dad interupted.( My dad came with me for the consult.) I have a younger sister who was having gallbladder problems at the time. Her doctors weren't to forthcoming with that diagnosis. Dr.Randall shifted gears and started asking my dad questions about my sister and her symptoms. Most doctors I know would have completely brushed my dad off. Why should Dr.Randall have cared, my sister wasn't his patient. I was completely floored. I left his office knowing that this was the doctor for me. My surgery date came in late Dec of 2003 for Jan 6,2004. I had my pre-op appointment with Dr.Randall. I was received with a big smile and hug,and asked how was I doing. We went over the surgery papers and what I could expect. Was told not to worry and see ya next week. Had sugery JAn 6,2004. My opinion of Dr.Randall only got better as I was in the hospital. The second night I developed a fever, which had the nurses calling Dr.Randall in the wee hours of the morning. Also Dr.Randall saw me on a Thursday night. Told me I was doing well and that he wouldn't be in on Friday. As he had a day of surgeries at another Boston hospital. To my great shock Dr. Randall showed up Friday night at 10pm. Thats what I call a DEDICATED DOCTOR. I also wonder when does he get to go home. Dr.Randall also has a great monthly support meeting. Which he runs in conjuction with the nutrionist. These meetings are great, everyone is so nice. I would highly recomend Dr.Randall. He is the best doctor I have ever had. I've never come across a doctor like him. I could go on and on singing his praises. Now all I need to do is find a primary care physican just like him. "
