"The first night I shared a room with a older lady with mental retardation, her sister and mother. My husband could not stay due to that fact. She had surgery on her neck. She was not able to keep her voice pitched low and cried out ( I mean loud) all night for her sister and mother. I barely rested at all. The next day, my husband finally got me a private room. I had requested one from the beginning. He was able to stay with me the second night, which was nice. My bed linens were not changed once and I had to tell the nurse I had a JP drain the first day when it looked as if it would burst. She did not even know and it had not been emptied all day. On the second night, a nurse gave me pain meds through my IV and said to call her when it was empty. The IV pump started beeping, I called but it took 45 min. for them to get in there. When the new shift nurse finally arrived, the IV had went bad. The site had collapsed and was burning like fire. So, they took it out and I started liquid pain meds. Most of the nurses were great and very concerned. "
"At first, I thought he was dismissive of my desire to have the surgery. I do not have any life threatening medical problems. I do meet the weight requirements, have acid reflux, and borderline high blood pressure that requires no medication. However, I now know he simply wanted to be absolutely sure I understood the seriousness and committment that would be required. His nurse, Barbara, is very helpful and concerned. I would recommend Dr. Gleysteen. "
