Today's talk with the doc
Jun 30, 2010
Goal #1 achieved. I talked to my primary care doc today about WLS. She kind of blew it off, and was more concerned that my diabetes is not under control right now. UGH! She is sending me to a "diabetes specialist," who is going to talk about 'diabetes nutrition,' and decide whether I'm going to be put on insulin, or a somewhat-new drug called byetta (which is also an injection). She seems to think that I'll lose weight if my nutrition is the way it "should" be. I told her I wouldn't have the diabetes to begin with if I could lose the weight! I'll play this game for a little while; it gives me time to do more research on a surgeon
Oh and it provides more documentation for the insurance company too...
Despite having been on the Slim-Fast diet (my diet-of-the-month), and exercising more, I am the same EXACT weight, to the pound, as I was at my last appointment in February. Talk about a let-down!
I also asked her about Chantix, since I'm hearing a ton of people who have quit with it. She actually told me NOT to worry about quitting right now, "let's work on one project at a time."
So there it is.. kind of a dead-end right now. Ugh.

step 1

Step 1 is over for me, and with a better result than I expected. I talked to my mom about this (my main support system), and she is VERY excited for me to start this process! Yay! Now, where'd that insurance benefits package go?
