49 Weeks 5 Days after surgery
Dec 11, 2009
Well, it has been quite a while since I logged on to OH.
I gained about 10 pounds back in September/October timeframe because all I was doing was getting sick eating solids.
So, I had the doctor take out about 3cc's of my saline in my band. Since then, I haven't gotten sick, but I haven't lost anymore weight. I need to go back and have the doctor adjust the band to help me loose more weight. However, I'm scared of getting sick.
Say some prayers to get me to call the doctor and get the adjustment. I want to loose more weight.

16 Weeks and 5 days after surgery
Apr 25, 2009
Well, I haven't blogged in a while. I've lost 52 pounds.
Today, I hit a milestone. We walked in the 2009 March for Babies walk to raise money and awareness.
The walk is 4 miles and I walked all of it. Was I fast? No, but I finished.
Something I haven't been able to do in years.
I'm going to get my 2nd fill in the next week or so, so hopefully, the weight will start coming off again.
I'm taking it off slow, as to hopefully not have a lot of extra skin.
Have a great day, everyone.

What's happened.
Well, I've now lost 48 pounds and approaching 50 quickly.
I found out that my bile reflux medication (reglan) was causing me to be depressed and anxious.
I guess that is a common side effect that you aren't really warned about.
I'm 1 week off of reglan and the with-drawls, yes with-drawls, are subsiding.
The not sleeping and nervous twitches.
Going into this week, I'm just tired from driving to the Children's Museum on Saturday, taking Daniel back on Sunday and work today. (Also, again tomorrow.)
My mind is a little clearer. Everyday, it seems to be getting better.
I am also taking cymbalta and well butrin now.

8 Weeks 2 Days after surgery

Well, I'm down 39 pounds to date. You think I'd be really excited, but I had one of those days again today.
I wish the "wondering" mind would leave. I'd just like to have a clear mind. Luckily, I have work to keep me occupied.
I drank my lunch today, not because I couldn't eat it, I just felt full.
I knew I needed the protein, so I drank it.
By supper time, I was hungry. I had a grilled hamburger patty and some baked french fries with green beans.
I want to wait and weigh myself once a week, but I keep getting to curious, so it has to be daily.
My husband wants me to decide where to go on vacation in June. I want to go some place where I don't have to fly. I am still not comfortable with airplane seats. I know that will come with time.
My ideas for vacation range from going to St. Louis, MO to Gatlinburg, TN. Something that wouldn't be rushed and we could enjoy the entire time there and it wouldn't take a whole day to get there and back. If anyone has been any place cool that's close and fun, let me know. A pool and a lazy river would be great. I just want to relax.

8 Weeks after surgery
Feb 23, 2009
I cannot believe it. It's been 8 weeks since the surgery. I cannot say it was easy, but it is definitely starting to payoff. My health seems to be improving. I can fix my hair without sitting on the toilet. I can fold clothes without sitting down. I can go up and down the stairs more than once a day.
Since the doctor changed me from Lexapro to Celexa, I seem to be doing much better. I know it's only been a week, but still, BETTER.
My friend, Michelle, is having the RNY tomorrow, so keep her in your prayers. I know I am. I met her in person today for the first time and I really feel she'll do great with the surgery. She's a terrific person.
Oh yeah, I'm down 37 pounds and getting ready to cross the 40 mark. I really didn't think that was possible. Just 13 more pounds and I'll be at the point where I was at when I met my husband. It really felt good last weekend when he said I reminded him of how I look when he first fell in love with me. He loves me no matter what my size, but he wants me to be healthier, which I am becoming.
Has anyone ever found a good way to fight the after taste of the extra protein? I find myself constantly tasting it through out the day.
I tried some macaroni tonight. Maybe it was because I didn't make it, but it actually didn't taste good. Very, starchy! They said my taste might change. It's hard to believe I might not care for macaroni. Anyone that knows me, knows that was one of my favorite foods.
Over the weekend, we went to a cousins birthday party. Of course, there was cake there. And guess what, I didn't try it. Was I tempted? Yes....but I didn't. I did however sneak 2 chips, but even they didn't taste good.

7 Weeks 1 Day after surgery
Feb 17, 2009
Wow...time flies when you cannot eat a lot.
Today, I am down 34 pounds since surgery day.
On average, the lap band brings about a 1 to 2 pound a week weight loss.
The first 3 weeks don't count in the average, but since the last 4 weeks I'm closer to 3 pounds a week.
I got my first lap-band fill today. I was nervous, because I just was.
However, it went fine and quicker than I expected.
The needle the doctor used was quite scary looking, but I did have a local numbing.
The weird part was having to drink the water to see where the fill needed to be.
It was like trying to just barely having a clogged drain then letting it out to find the "sweet spot".
I walked 1.5 miles today at the gym in 30 minutes. I'm aiming for the 2 miles suggested by the doctor.
I want to be able to walk in the "walk for babies" March of Dimes annual walk on April 25th.
I'm back on a full liquid diet for a few days, so there is not much to tell about my eating (drinking).
I'm going to talk to my family doctor at tomorrow's visit about whether the Lexapro could be replaced by something else.
I'm also going to try an estrogen patch. The surgeon thinks my hormones might be a little out of whack.

6 Weeks 2 Days after surgery

I've been to the gym the last two nights, but I'm not losing any weight.
I think it's time for a band adjustment.
I'm coming off of the Lexapro per the WL Center's suggestion.
I feel still in a fog. I don't want to do anything, but sleep.

Why won't the thoughts of blah leave?
I didn't even log on to the computer yesterday.
That's not me.
I'm supposed to be happy, right?
I've lost 30 pounds and I'm should be excited.
My nails are growing out.
I got a new hair cut and hi-light yesterday.
I should be, so excited.
Ideas...please list them.

5 Weeks 2 Days after surgery
Feb 04, 2009
Well, today was bad.
I had to get out of the house at lunch time.
I was just too depressed or down or whatever you want to call it.
When i got back, I got the chocolate frozen yogurt out and had some.
I didn't measure it, but I don't think I ate too much.
I think my body was just craving something sweet to the taste.
It has been over 5 weeks since my body has had anything sweet and it was/is rebelling.
Now, I'm hope I'm better, since I gave it the fix.
On a good note, I weighed in back at the 28 pounds down total. Yeah.
And, I got to the gym tonight to walk 1.12 miles.
