3 pounds

Jan 16, 2007

Wow, I've lost 3 pounds since my last post... and I really don't understand how! My eating has been far from "on track" though I hadn't been making bad choices, its just eating more of what I'm suppose to. I got back "on track" with exercise though and I've got the blisters to prove it. Maybe that is why I feel hungrier??? Who knows.... but I have lost 3 pounds in 5 days!!! 16 more to go before March 8th.

9 Month Surgiversary

Jan 11, 2007

Today officially marks the nine month anniversary to the beginning of a healthier and happier me :-) I have been truly blessed and have never regretted my decision to undergo gastric bypass. My home scale weighs me at 218lbs. I have lost 148lbs in 9 months. As I sit here in my size 16 jeans (from a tight size 28/30) and XL (was 3X/4X)top from Old Navy (Yes, I can now shop in the "regular" people's stores), I ponder what the next 9 months have in store for me. This is also a time for self awareness and assessment. I've become aware, with the slower weight loss now, that I have become "comfortable" with the rules, some have been bent, some have stayed rigid....especially around the holidays..."A bite or two of this or that won't hurt right??" WRONG!! I have recommitted myself and vow to do what needs to be done to get the rest of this weight off. I know it is going to be hard and, you know, it has been hard since I got back on track this past Monday. I am exercising more consistently at least :-) My next goal is to lose 19lbs before my next appointment with my surgeon on March 8th. I'm gonna make it! Below I've posted my measurements.

My husband now is making an effort to watch his food intake as well. I'm proud of him for taking that step. Of course, that means more cooking for me lol but I don't mind most days hehe :-) I just wish he was on a day shift. It would be so much easier for him to try to lose weight. At any rate, until next time....

Just hanging out

Jan 05, 2007

Well, there really isn't anything new to report. I'm just hanging out on a Friday night with nothing to do. I'm down to 218lbs right now. The weight loss has definitely slowed down. I'm working on exercising more consistently. I'm trying to start jogging more regularly (4.3 mph on the treadmill). I am up to 10 minutes without feeling like a lung has collapsed! I haven't been to the YMCA because since the 1st, it has been jammed packed with waits for machine use - major bummer. So, I'm just going to focus on treadmill work at home. I'd like to get some weights for my arms. I may go do that tonight. Though, I hate going to wally world!  At any rate, I have had some real issues with carbs - pasta and pretzels to be exact. Mind you, that it is the Dreamfields brand of pasta with supposedly 5 "digestible" carbs...though lets face it.. a carb is a carb, "digestible" or not. I don't know why I want these evil things but they find their way on my plate and in my pouch. It is something I vow to kick in the butt right now. I put a recent picture of me taken on Christmas Eve in front of the Christmas tree. I think I look like my mother LOL! The transformation is surreal!

76 More Pounds

Dec 07, 2006

I guess I should post to say that everything went smoothly with the gallbladder removal. Even though it was done laproscopically, it was a lot more painful than I expected. I had my follow-up appointment today with the surgeon and he said everything looked good. Told me I had a whopper of a gallstone...even took a picture of it though I didn't get to see the pic lol. That would have been interesting to see. He said I was pretty much on track with my weightloss. I was worried that I wasn't. I hadn't been able to get to the gym as much with this gallbladder situation. He also stressed that it would get harder and that I had a bit of a ways to go.... 76 pounds. Now, I'm thinking ... me, weighing 150lbs. It sounds so absurd... I can't even imagine what I would look like at 150lbs... I don't even think it's feasible. My hallijeuah, thank you jesus personal goal is 199.9 lbs.... a mere 27lbs away. Looking at that almost brings tears to my eyes... a mere 27lbs. That number certainly motivates me to pay closer attention to what I'm eating and definitely keeping up with the exercise.

Goodbye Mr. Gallbladder

Nov 23, 2006

Today is Thanksgiving Day. This day use to be my favorite holiday because, of course, the food! But now, the thought of all that food really turns my stomach. Now, I've switched my focus from food to being with family - which is really what thanksgiving is all about. I'm very thankful for my family :-) I'm thankful for the opportunity to have this wonderful new lease on life. I truly feel that my life has been saved with this surgery. I certainly was on a road of further heartache, pain, and severe illness all associated with my morbid obesity. It has been a while since I took my measurements so here goes:

Neck - 14 1/2"
Arm - 13"
Wrist - 6 1/2"
Bust - 43"
Waist - 42 1/2"
Hips - 48"
Thigh - 26 1/2"

Compared to measurements prior to surgery:
Neck - 17"
Right Arm - 19"
Right Wrist - 8"
Bust - 57"
Waist - 59 1/2"
Hips - 63"
Right Thigh - 36"

Difference:
Neck - 3 1/2"
Arm - 6"
Wrist - 2 1/2"
Bust - 14"
Waist - 17"
Hips - 15"
Thigh - 9 1/2"
Total inches lost - 67 1/2 inches!

In other news. I have been having a sharp stabbing pain in my upper right abdomen. It lasted for more than a day. This was Thursday/Friday. It went away and decided to not call my doctor. Monday morning came and so did the pain; however, it didn't last near as long. I decided to call my surgeon and he sent me for an ultrasound where a gallstone was discovered. Whoo hoo just what I always wanted :-) At any rate, I decided I thought it would be best to have my gallbladder removed to prevent further gallstones from developing. Plus, I have met my insurance deductible and out of pocket maximum so insurance will cover 100%. I'll be having outpatient surgery on December 1st.

7 Month Surgiversary

Nov 12, 2006

Yesterday marked my official 7 month surgiversary. I can't believe it has been 7 months and each day I thank God for this wonderful opportunity. My home scale says I weigh 235lbs. I have never seen these numbers before.. at least I don't remember seeing them :-) I have lost an average size person.... 131lbs. My 6 month surgeon visit on Oct. 19th discovered low blood iron which has probably been the culprit to my never ending fatigue I seem to be plaqued with lately. I ordered my iron supplement which I finally received last week. So hopefully, a few more days of supplements will restore my iron levels and I'll get my butt back in gear in regards to exercising. I have also experienced several bouts of dizziness and feelings of blacking out. I think this is due to my lack of water. This is something I also vow to better.

I had the opportunity to go to Gatlinburg for work. I did a lot of playing too being that it was my first visit there. I'm posting some pictures from that visit. Also, I bought a new car...brand spankin' new... 2007 Nissan Altima! It is a beauty :-) I'm ticked to death over it. Tonight, my husband took my 7 month pictures. I didn't post my 6 month picture because I couldn't tell a difference between month 5 and 6. Oh well.  I can tell a slight difference now! Well, until next time.... I'll try to post more often!
