Hi Mary! I just read about your on-going journey. I'm curious to know how active you were before surgery. I'm in the process of deciding what surgery is best for me: LapBand or RNY. I strongly feel that I need the Lap/RNY because it gives me a backbone to my lack of willpower; and you can loose 80% of your weight in the first year. The surgeon I met with last week advised me to have the Lap Band, but the weight loss is only 40% the first year...and then it could take up to 5 yrs. to reach your goal. My stats are: 36/5'8/285/B.M.I.42/sedentary/depression/HighBP/Edema/Severe Back/Neck problems, and GERD. I would hate to go through this ordeal and not loose the weight expected. I would be devastated. I can't have the RNY until after the new year, but I can have the Lap Band by December. I don't know what to do. I have researched both of them. I hope that our age is not hurting us. I would love any input that you can give me. I hope you continue to do well and I look forward to hearing from you. Julie W., Perrysburg, Ohio
