Two year check up! What a different life :)

Jun 13, 2010

Hi Everyone! Here it is, two years since I chose to change my life by having bariatric surgery and I feel great! I weigh 152 lbs which is 10 pounds heavier than my lowest weight since having surgery.  I have been at this weight since late last fall and it feels great! I have gotten rid of my CPAP and my diabetes since immediately after surgery and at my last checkup, I am doing well healthwise. That is what it was all about, feeling better and and being healthy and I made it!

You will too!  Get moving or keep moving, take your vitamins and learn all you need to know about to take care of yourself! It is very hard when you get started but it gets easier and it does become a way of life.  I can't hardly remember being obese now except the picture hanging up at work that I didn't get changed yet.  My newer co-workers had no idea that was even me!  Good luck on your journey!

Just over a Year!!! What a year!

Jul 06, 2009

Hi to everyone.  I know I haven't been on here in a while but it is great checking up on what everyone is up to.  Just got back from a short vacation in Hilton Head Island, wearing a swim suit without scaring small children (just kidding, mostly just not scaring myself).  It was fun and beautiful!  I didn't sweat everytime I walked out of air conditioning, that was fun!  I have a new friend on here named Liz, check her page and send her lots of support as she starts her journey!!  I'll check in again soon!  Missed you all!

When's the last time you bought pantyhose???

Apr 26, 2009

I went to buy new pantyhose the other day and got to buy the size I wore 20 years ago!  They feel totally different than what I'm used to.  I got them up without breaking a sweat and no bulges everywhere.  Funny the amazing accomplishments that I never anticipated.  I am so glad I had this done and I know I wasn't writing this last year.

I had a WOW moment...

Feb 15, 2009

and I didn't even realize it!!!  I ran into one of my husband's cousins out at the store.  I went up to him and started talking and he had no idea who I was.  I said my name and he definitely knows me, but completely did not recognize me!  When I walked away I'm sure he thought I was my sister-in-law (her name is also Mary-always skinny)!  I had forgotten how much different I look now!  That was amazing!  and I am so happy and proud that I had this surgery!  Thanks again Dr McClellan and all my OH friends!

I miss you!

Feb 09, 2009

Hi Everyone that I have been missing on here!  I need to get back to exercising and I need someone to kick me in the butt to get there!  I did walk on the beach yesterday in Hilton Head!  It was beautiful but today it was raining when I came home so I begged out again.  Hope everyone is doing well and talk to ya soon!

Ok, I am a huge slacker!

Jan 03, 2009

I miss checking in on all my friends to see how you're doing and to keep myself motivated.  So I am back and I plan to get on here at least once a week!  I hope everyone had a great holiday.  I just put up some new pictures, check them out.  Hope to see some of you at Support group on Wednesday.

My New Year's resolution...work out more!  My new goal is to work out every day so that if I miss, it will be a day not a week before I can get back on track.  When it was nice outside, I was a big walker...with the snow, a big shoveler...but lately, nothing moves me so I got a new exercise video called Hip Hop Abs   Watch Out!  Here I come again!

A new Me!

Nov 30, 2008

It's just after Thanksgiving and I have lots to be thankful for, especially for all the people who share their stories here on OH.  I was looking at the before and after pics and clicked a few names to read their stories.  Moving, inspirational, insightful!  Every one of them writes just what I am thinking and feeling.  I am so happy that I took the time to look around at this site again and be moved again to get to my goal.  I am already so much healthier--no more meds for diabetes, depression, high choleserol.  I am already so much happier--my daugher repeats daily that I am not allowed to wear her clothes (but I could if I wanted to)!  We can now share more than socks!  So I will continue to visit this site and be inspired to keep working to my goal and reach it!  Thanks again!

I am so glad I chose to have this surgery!  I'm not quite 70 lbs down and I feel great!  Don't look too bad either!  I enjoy support group and am so glad to have faces with my new friends.  I'm heading ou of town for work so I'll have to catch up with everyone later but I do miss chatting on here and seeing what everyone is up to.  See around soon and hope you are all doing well!  Love ya!

4 months out....

Oct 22, 2008

Well I'm a little over 4 months out.  I've lost almost 70 lbs from where I started and feel pretty good.  I needed a new picture on my work badge because it didn't look like that anymore.  I have a cold and feel like crap right now.  I can't take my usual cold medicine because the caplet is too big andit can't be cut because it is a 12 extended release tab, dang!  I eat a wider variety of food now but because I haven't been losing any weight in the last three to four weeks, I went back to my old diet, boring!  Well, hope everyone is doing well.

A new chapter

Sep 27, 2008

That doc finally said something....and when he did, it really didn't matter to me.  Maybe it wasn't a such big deal after all.

Went for my 3 month visit w/ Dr McClellan, all looks good.  Some vomiting still but nothing like it was and now my hair is falling out.  I thought they said the worst was over at 3 months, but no, it begins at about 3 months.  So I'm drinking protein, protein, protein!

Hope every one is doing well and enjoying this beautiful weekend!
