When I read about everybody's story...I hear a lot of the same things. I was never overweight as a kid. I was very active in my school years. I was a cheerleader all through High school and was on Homecoming court and was even class president. When I got to college, I met who would be my future husband. He taught me how to party and eat very late at night. We were both enjoying this life. We drank almost every night and then went to the Mexican restaraunt in downtown Detroit.
We then got married and moved to Alaska. No family and friends and then I got pregnant. I was only 20 at this time. Well I had started gaining weight before we got married and now a pregnancy too. I gained almost 100 lbs in 2 years (with the pregnancy). I never got rid of all of the weight before baby #2 came along...and there was some more weight. A year later baby #3. So, I was done with. I had a job at this point that kept me moving, but I wanted to stay home with my kids. I started my own home day care (which I still do now, 15 years later) But, being at home, I started "snacking" a lot. And before you knew it I looked like a balloon!
I attempted to do the RNY for about 6 years before I could finally get my insurance (and my nerves) to cover it.
When I finally got approved it was the greatest day of my life. I remember getting that piece of paper in the mail and being SOOO excited.
I had RNY on March 8, 2010. My re-birth date.
