I'm a white male in my late 50's. I had VSG in 2011. I'm 6'5 tall. My entire family is very overweight. I grew up with lots of desserts and snacks and meat and potatoes. I have used food for comfort my whole life. At my worst, I was about 360 pounds. After surgery, I was down to about 235 pounds, which was great.
I never really mentally prepared for what I was doing, and as a result, my relationship with food stayed the same. I kept "treating" myself, snacking late into the night when no one was looking. And in Feb of 2020 I was up to 276 pounds. I'm diabetic, and my A1C had crept up to almost 11 (which is bad).
In March I decided to teach myself how to eat the right way and for the right reasons. I'm using a tool (Nutrisystem) for now to help me get there and to rewire my brain on portion sizes and calorie intake. I am down to 244 at the moment, since March. My goal is to get as close to 200 as I can.
I really wanted to finally connect with this community and learn from it and support people as best I can.
