I have been a member of OH.com for years but have not been on here in sometime, so due to the page changes, I am starting over., so forgive me if I repete myself at first . I will be trying to fix it. I was very lucky so far, I called on a Friday to set up my appointment, I knew it would be a 6 months wait. Stephanie was the nurse I spoke with, she said she had a cancelled appointment for the following Monday. I took it! I was very glad that I called when I did, I truly believe that its time for my life to change. Dr. Snow came in, explained the surgery to us - it was close to 12 of us in the room-answered all the questions that we had. He was very honest about the surgery. I have worked in the healthcare field for years. I fine that to be a good sign. I'm waiting to hear from my insurance on my approval. I look forward to more visits. Mona
Lived in Foley Alabama, all my life and had always been "obese", can not ever remember being small. I was picked on in school, talked about as an adult, did not have a lot of relationships, but the ones I had were long and most where good but my weigh was always an issue, except for one and that one ended with my finacee dieing before we were to be married.
In 2-2003, I was in a bad friend ship and once I moved back into my own home, I came to realize that I had lived my 36 years for everyone but myself. I always asked myself questions like: "what would be better for my family"," what would they like me to do." -"Will I still be able to live close to my family?'' I decide it was time to live for myself and I was not happy with myself, I did not like looking at myself nor did I like the way I was having to live, due to no energy, not going anywhere due to looks from other person and hear ugly comments.
I had severnal family members that had looked into having the surgery and some did well while other did not and some or even in worse shape after the surgery.
I did lots of research on the surgery and Lapband, but Lapband had not been cleared in the USA yet, and my cousin was seeing a doctor in mobile alabama that was awesome and was one of the first ones to do this surgery. Some of my family members and co-workers were against the surgery and I did lessen but I felt as if it was my choice and I decided that I would make a appointment with the doctor my cousin was seeing.
I was told there was a 6months waiting period, due to him having so many patients trying to get an appointments.
