14 Months down...........
Apr 19, 2008
Things are great!
I'm starting to eat a bit more, I need to start watching my intake closer. I also need to step up the exercise, not really doing much the past year :)
My business partner is not really wanting to have the surgery. His BMI is close to 50 and he has been gaining weight pretty fast over the past 6 months.
He was on the program at Sparrow Hospital for six months, PHP requires this and more to get approved. He was going to the meetings and losing a couple of pounds a week. Then the holidays hit and the meetings went to the back of the line.
It looks like he may be getting a new insurance, this may help him in his quest. He is also looking into the self funded lap band procedure that is very affordable.
I'll keep you up to date as much as I can..... gotta enjoy the sunshine with my wife and our four doggies :)
Finally an Update!
Sep 06, 2007
Morning Weight = 185
I have been busy with work and going to the YMCA and have neglected to update my profile.
I'm happy to say that I have reached my first goal of 185lbs! It only took 7 months. My pant size has went from 44in to 32in and now where a Large golf shirt.....
I haven't had many issues with the WLS, the only one I can think of at this time is dealing with the loss of mass. My balance is sometime off, due to the weight loss. I went bowling last night, picked up the ball, it took me a game to get my balance levels to roll the ball down the lane.
I have lost quite a bit of strength, my bench press was up to 350 lbs, now I might be able to press 225. This is a small problem considering all the benefits. Now I'm starting to build my strength back and start building my muscles!
I've been lucky, my skin is very elastic and I have no sagging and minimal stretch marks.
I got on the scale....... finaly
Jun 15, 2007
Funny thing happened last night... I got on the scale again for the first time in about a month.
I was a little nervous getting on the scale. In the past month, my pant size has went down, going from a 38 to 36 to 34. Yesterday my 34's fit very well and I had more room than before. Time to get on the scale!
I looked down and was very excited to see 204!
That makes 95 pounds in FOUR months! Almost to the century club.
It's been a while
May 11, 2007
It's been a while since my last post. I guess this means things are doing fairly well (no problems) and fairly consistent (not too much weight loss).
I have finally been able to excerise, this is really starting to pay off. My ankle is still a little sore and tight, but is getting better everyday. I was able to hit the treadmill and put in a good 30 minutes. Granted, the speed was only 3.0 and NO incline. Even at this reduced effort, I was able to burn an additional 175 calories! That is 15% of my daily intact.
My anniversary is tomorrow, I gave my wife her present yesterday and she REALLY liked it. I gave her a new drum set.. PINK! She has always wanted to learn to play the drums, no she has a chance. I purchased a Bass Guitar as my gift.
YEAH!

Easter Brunch
Apr 07, 2007
Today is fun.. my wife and I join my parents for Easter Brunch. I really hate to pay full price for my cup full of food. I guess that isn't too big a deal, I'm still heading toward my goal weight.
I have been drinking a cup or two of coffee each morning. It has been a real pleasure, coffee is one of my favorite things. I was worried that it would dehydrate me too much and cause problems. This hasn't been the case at all.
In fact, I'm actually able to drink 20 oz of water in 10 minutes. I sometimes worry that I will take a big gulp of air, hasn't happened. If I'm drinking and not thinking, it is actually easier and I have less "problems" with air.
Back to the Y
Apr 07, 2007
Yesterday was my first day back to the YMCA! I had a great time and it wasn't difficult on my ankle.
The orthopedic doctor is allowing me to work out, with weights. I can also sit in the spa and walk in the pool. No walking without the boot or running under any circumstances.
Twelve more days until I'm cleared to resume all phyical activity, I cannot wait!
THAT was not much fun......

Morning Weight = 235
First time for everything... I finally got one of the unpleasant situations out of the way. Food became stuck in my pouch!!
Damn.. there were some uncomfortable times last night.
Anyone have ideas on what to do when something gets stuck in the pouch? I just road it out for about 3 hours, then a couple of sips of water right before bed. This seemed to clear it, maybe should have tried it earlier.. ?
Appointment
Mar 29, 2007
The scale is good, the scale is kind....
My appointment went really well and I'm excited to start eating other foods. I have been eating Lean Cusines the past two days. It wasn't too bad going down and I finished 75% of each of the meals.
Nutrionist = I was very happy after hearing the story of another person in my group. He has a stricture and was barely able to keep his food down. Spoke of getting sick after eating and it taking all day to eat a can of tuna fish.
Exercise = Very nice guy! I can't wait to get this cast off and start moving my body. Should be easier, the last time I exercised... I weighed 299lbs!!!
PA = His name was Matt and he really seemed to care about my situation and my health.
The first month of my program I lost 40lbs, the second month 22lbs. I'm hoping to lose another 20lbs (or more) by my wedding aniversary on May 13th.
Up.. Down... Up... Down....
Mar 27, 2007
I looked back at this blog.. yep just over one week and I've lost ONE pound.
I have been a yo-yo for the past two weeks. Down one pound, up four pounds, down three, up one, down four..... even... up three... down four. I'm hoping this will come to an end soon.
Meeting with the Nutrionist tomorrow, maybe she will have some insight into breaking this stall. Let's hope so!
I have my appointment with the Orthopedic Surgeon next Thursday, maybe the cast will come off!!!!
