7 Months Post-Op
Jan 20, 2010
Well it has been a little over 7 months since I had my wonderful Gastric Bypass. I have lost 90lbs & went from a 43 BMI to a 28 BMI. I'm 2 points from being a normal (if there is one) BMI which is 27 and under. I started this journey at 244 lbs so I think 90lbs is pretty good.
I went for my 6 month (about a month late) last week and Dr. Garth Davis says all my blood work is great. Yeah Me!
Since I'm only about 10-15 lbs from being in that normal BMI range they say I can go ahead and start looking into getting plastic surgery done. I figure by the time I get a appointment and see what insurance will or wont pay for I will be a year out from surgery and be pretty much at a stable point. I'm pretty sure if I have plastic surgery done that will get at least 5+ lbs off of me. Mine skin is not to saggy; but the boobs have deflated and there is some stomach I would like to see gone. It does not hang; but I can say I could go down at least 1 or 2 pant sizes if all the loose skin where gone.
I'm gonna try to figure out how to put my measurement chart on here for those that may wont to take a look and my progress since surgery.
I feel great and for once in my life I think I look pretty darn good. When I get dressed and go look in the mirror I don't cry like I use to. Now the big problem is instead of my clothes being to small or look like a pup tent now they are to big for me. (Don't worry I'm not gripping) I just do a lot of shopping at re-sale shops and Goodwill store. It seems I go down a pant size every 2 weeks no matter if I loose weight or not. Great problem to have. Right????

9 Weeks Post-Op
Jul 30, 2009
Well it has been 9 weeks since my surgery and all is going well. I have made it to onederland (less than 200lbs) which I find to be very awesome. I have not seen that in many years.
All in all it has not been much of a struggle sometimes I have to really focus to get all my water and protein in; but that is only if I'm on the run. So I have to make sure if I know I'm gonna be running I have to plan it all out so I get in what I need to. With it being so hot as of late it has not been to hard to get in all my water. Now that I pretty much understand how this all works the eating and what I can eat it really is pretty smooth sailing. I do know that there will be times that are harder than others it is to be expected as it is with anything. I do from time to time get a little sick when I eat new stuff. It is so funny to what sometimes makes me sick. There is really no rhyme or reason for some of it; but I guess that is just how it works. So far the dumping for me is like having a major Hot Flash & I get sick to my tummy; but I have not thrown up or had to go to the bathroom. I just go lay down for about 30 min. and it passes. This has not happened but a few times as I'm very careful in what I put in my mouth.

5 Weeks Post-Op
Jul 03, 2009
Well it's been 5 weeks since my surgery. I went to see Dr. Garth yesterday and he says everything is going great. I have lost 30lbs total (that is with 2 week liquid diet & 5 weeks since surgery). I feel great.
I have moved on from liquids right after surgery to pureed then to soft foods. The nurses have told me that I can move on to normal foods; but to only try one thing at a time so I know if anything is gonna make me sick. I have found that some of the strangest things make me sick; but they say just because it makes you sick now does not mean it will 6 months down the line.
I took Dr. Garth some veggies out of my garden today and he could not believe that I grew it and how big it all was. I will have to try and send him some more stuff as it grows. It was funny he was like a kid in a candy store with it. He has got to be one of the nicest people I have ever meet.

A week after surgery
Jun 05, 2009
Well I'm a week out from surgery. I went to see Dr. Garth yesterday and he said I was doing great. The only problem I'm having is getting my water in and I had to add some fiber to my diet to get the ol digestive system working like it is suppose to be. So I'm working on all that.
I'm a little tired of mushy food; but I know it is for the best so I will stick with it for a few more weeks.
I've only lost about 7 lbs since surgery; but that all should change with increasing my water and my protein.

Home from Surgery
May 30, 2009
Well I'm home from surgery. Everything went pretty well. Dr. Garth did have to cut a portion of my stomach out where the Molina Band was he said it was totally wadded up.
All in all things are good. I'm very sore and get very sick to my tummy very easy but I'm sure this will pass. I'm doing pretty good with my sipping and walking although I can not do any broth it makes me so sick so I'm doing some of the other things on my list.

6 Days Down
May 18, 2009
Well I have six days behind me on my liquid diet. Boy oh boy has that been interesting. I have been doing the Bariatric Advantage Shakes and Vits. Well the shakes have been making me very sick to my stomach; but I have been choking them down. I have found that if you mix a little yogurt and a banana with them they are not so bad. I did however contact my surgeons office about being so sick to my stomach and they told me since I was put on the liquids to reduce the size of my liver and not lose weight I could do Slim Fast.
Oh my so much better as I stomach them much better; but I can say this the protein shakes stay with you longer and make you fuller than the Slim Fast. Maybe I will add some of the protein powder to the slim fast.
My husband called today and told me he may not be home from the deep blue seas until the morning before my surgery.
He will be here though. Time seems to stand still when you are waiting on something to happen.
