HI, welcome to my page and my story on my way to success! Like many of you I've struggled with my weight for most of my life. As a teenager and in my early twenties I managed to keep it fairly well under control, but somewhere in my late twenties, it became harder and harder. I quit smoking when I was 29, and the pounds started to pack on! By the time I got married at 30, I weighed nearly 200 lbs. Then 2 boys later, more pounds. Sound familiar. Over the next 17+ years I tried nearly every diet out there. On Weight Watchers I lost 50+ lbs more than once, and always gained it back and them some.
I'm not sure where the turning point was for me, but sometime last August I decided I had too much to live for and loved my hustand and boys too much to head for what was a certain death. I told my husband I wanted to check out Bariatric Surgery. He didin't immediately jump on the band wagon, but he agreed we should check it out. Well, by the end of September I was approved, they wanted to schedule me for surgery in October, but we had a trip planned to Las Vegas with the boys over fall break, so I took their next availalbe appointment, November 6th.
If I hadn't made up my mind yet by then, the trip to Vegas would have done it for me. The agonizing airplane trip. Not being able to go horseback riding with the boys. Watching from below when the were rock climbing in the Red Rock Canyon. The list goes on.
November 6th came in a flash. Surgery went smooth, and I recovered well. I was so determined to succeed, when they told me to walk 5 minutes every hour, I walked 10. I was back home after 2 days, and thank the Lord have had no complications. I am surrounded by a wonderful supportive family, and a fantastic work place with a boss, who is my biggest cheerleader. My highest weight in August had been 333. When I went in for surgery I was 328, now just a little over 2 months I'm down to 272, that's 61 lbs! I can't believe it. Oh sure, like everyone, I have my good and bad days. Some days I'll struggle to get in my protein, I went through the phase where the thought of food made me sick, etc. But overall, I just couldn't be happier. I know I'm on the road to success, and I'm so happy that I found OH with all the wonderful people to help me along the way.
For now, so long from Indiana!
