Mixed feelings
Jan 06, 2012
Yesterday at work, one of the men that I know came up to me and said "you have lost quite a bit of weight"...you could tell he wasn't sure if he would offend me, but was very cute about it. He said I looked great and that I could "do it...just keep my goals in mind" I was a little embarrassed but thrilled with the compliment from a nice looking man...just a friend, mind you! I really have a hard time accepting compliments...usually reverting to humor or self-depreciation. Then there is also the other hand...when I know the person I am speaking to notices but doesn't say anything. I am definitely guilty of it in the past...mostly due to jealousy, but it makes me feel weird when they are checking me out but not saying anything. I am so much more conscious of it now, and will definitely not be doing that anymore.

I am so excited!!!
Nov 04, 2011
I was cleaning out my front closet where we keep all our coats, and I came across a beautiful, long leather coat that my mom had bought 3 years ago on a visit up here (they live in FLA) when it was very cold.
I couldn't even get an arm in it back then. I am proud to announce that it totally fits me now!!!
And its not 3X, 2X, or even a 1X...it's a regular, plain old XL!!! I AM SO STOKED!!!!!!!

I am excited to announce that I have moved my watch band over a notch!!
35 lbs down and feeling great!! I was at the OH event this weekend and surprized myself at the stamina I had for all the walking back and forth to/from my room. I had a wonderful time...besides the educational aspect, the people watching was a sight to behold!!

My review for Dr. Buchin
Oct 15, 2011
I had my LapBand surgery on 10/22/08 with another surgeon. I wish with all my heart that even though it took 5 years of research, I had NOT used the surgeon I had chosen. After the day of my surgery I never saw him again. I had 2 years of fills and unfills by his PA's, restriction and no restriction. I lost a whopping 40 lbs and then regained half back...all the time throwing up and totally miserable. I felt like a total failure. My good friend that also was going through the same thing (with the same surgeon) decided to have VSG surgery with another surgeon. I was curious, but scared to death of another failure. She also had to have her band removed in a separate surgery before he would do the VSG. That was the one thing I was not on board with. By some miracle, Dr. Buchin contacted her about her experience, and she told me about him. In their discussions, he told her he did the removal of the band and the VSG surgery in one operation. It was as if he was sent to her specifically for me. (At least that's the way I selfishly see it! LOL!) I attended Dr. B's very next seminar and was hooked! Just the way he spoke to us and answered all the questions...I knew I was in the right place. Yes he was young, but he had 10 years of Bariatric surgery experience and excellent results. His compassion came across in his speaking, and I knew I would be making an appointment as soon as I could. I had my consultation very quickly after that seminar. I was blown away by this man. He was so caring, compassionate, and took as much time as I could possibly need to go over everything regarding my revision. Even his packets and paperwork were informative and answered every single question one could possibly have. I left that office knowing I was about to start what I call the "second half" of my WLS journey. I had my revision done on 8/17/11, and with the help of Dr. B and his amazing staff...Sophia, Helene, and Karla...I am doing better than I had ever hoped for!!! I attend their (free) Support Groups, and Dr. B is at every one of them. I publicly want to thank all of them from the bottom of my

One Week Out
Aug 23, 2011
And feeling really good!!
I am surprized there is really no pain at all. Losing lbs daily, a little tired...went to Target for 1/2 hr yesterday and felt tired but good afterwards. I have been making all my shakes, washing my cups, and even making some or all of the dinners for my family. I am really amazed how quickly I am healing!! Now if only the damn tv didn't have a food commercial every 10 seconds....

PRE-OP IS DONE
Aug 10, 2011
Finished the Pre-op at the hospital...went well. I just can't figure out why I had to answer the same 7000 questions twice. Once w/the RN and then the PA. Especially when the RN entered everything into my file on the computer and all she had to do was pull it up. Whatever...I guess it's just to be sure of everything, but do they really need to know my education history? WTH does that have to do w/my surgery? Maybe for a census?? IDK but it was weird.
I think I have gotten my head back on straight now. This 2 wk liquid diet was really messing with my head. I was depressed, angry, pissy and any other adjective one could use for miserable. But today is a new day, and attending a support group meeting last night put things in perspective. (Although when they were talking about food, I almost ran out of the room in frustration). It's amazing to just listen to others in the same boat...I am a big believer in support groups and attend at least 2 a month. I definately advise anyone who has WLS to attend one...really helps with everything!
