1 week post-op RNY
Jul 19, 2011
I had my revision from lap-band to RNY last week and am 1 week out of surgery. Today is my best day yet! I'm struggling with a lot of head hunger and justifying why I should be able to have certain foods if I liquify them, etc. I'm trying to stay focused on my goals of wanting to FEEL better, be more active with my son, hold my son closer to me, etc. I'm struggling with wanting to be further along too. I wish I was through this liquid phase!

I got my approval for revision to RNY today and am excited to have that hurdle behind me. Now, if I can just hear what my actual surgery date will be!

Goodbye to my crapband! Revision
May 17, 2011
So, I've given it every last effort and still have a love / hate relationship with my band. Zero weight loss, never feel full, and 2/3's of the time I either feel stuck or vomit my food back up. I'm finally done contemplating-- RNY here we come!! I want to have more energy, play with my child more, do more household chores, run w/ the youth group, feel more comfortable in clothing and enjoy buying clothes!!

~M~Wow, 4 years later still in the same boat!!

Ok, so I'm coming back to the forums and came to update my profile. It was SO outdated that this is what it said:
A little background information on me. I started thinking of WLS on January 2, 2006. I was not interested in gastric bypass and came across information on Lap-Band. By January 11, 2006 I had decided I would do it and what surgeon I would use. I contacted Carolina Weight Loss Surgery and found out everything I needed to do before surgery could be scheduled. I had my upper GI, lab work, H&P, support group meeting, and nutrition appointment prior to my doctor's consult. February 14, 2006 (a valentine's present to my husband) I had my first doctor's consult. A few days later I got a call to schedule my surgery. A cancellation had come up and my surgery date was then scheduled for March 3, 2006!!
So, here I am on February 23, 2006 getting aquainted to this site and reading profiles, trying to learn about different people's experiences from their mouths, not just a statistics site. Any information you can share with me would be greatly appreciated. I feel good about my decision, but am having last minute gitters, since the surgery is 8 days away!!
February 25, 2006: I'm excited, nervous, anxious, and every other emotion I can think of. Still ready for the surgery....this time next week I'll be banded!
March 1, 2006: WOAH, it's March! My surgery date always sounded so far away. It's in a little over 48 hours! I feel like I should eat everything I love in one day. I have been eating things I enjoy a lot, but I'm trying to remain in check about not over doing it. The coundown is on!
March 2, 2006: Well here goes folks. Tomorrow's the big day. Wonder what I'm going to have for dinner? Probably pasta, it's my favorite. My doctor doesn't make me do the 2 week liquid diet pre-op, just post-op. I know that will be hell on earth, but worth it. See you when I'm banded!! Thanks for all the encouraging messages.
March 5, 2006: The last 48 hours seem like a blur. I was out of it. The anesthesia made my mouth REALLY dry. The gas has been HORRIBLE. I have taken Gas-X, which did nothing and an enema (that helped). I have pain around the port and it's hard to bend over or get into bed because of the port pain. I am having difficulty getting anough water and protein, but I'm working on it. I guess I could feel worse. Hopefully, tomorrow there will be less port pain. I'll keep you posted.
My goals:
Clean my house without getting terribly winded.
Wrap a towel around myself
Have more energy
Weigh 230 by my anniversary in July.
Be back into a size 18 or 20 by July.
Feel better about the way I look.
March 7, 2006: I'm feeling better today. I can't see for some reason. My vision is very blurry even though I've taken the motion sickness patch off. I hope it gets better. I was able to get all my protein in yesterday, but not the water. I'm working on it. Walking helps me feel better. The gas is mostly gone and I finally took a shower today...woo hoo!
So, here I am 4 years later (after having a child) with NO weight loss (and am actually 5 pounds heavier). It's sickening to me to see the motivation I had 4 years ago and to be in the same boat now. I am considering removing the Lap-Band and having RNY.
