My name's Alyssa
Currently 17 years old and going to be a junior in high school
I weigh around 340 and desperately hoping to have some sort of weight loss surgery
I've really been overweight all of my life, I don't know what's it's like to be at a healthy weight
I guess I reallly started putting weight on when I went into Middle School
I've tried several diffrent diets and weight loss programs and nothing proved to be helpful
Depression, fatigue, and social anxiety have reallly limited my quality of life
Diabetes also runs in my family
All these things hopefullly make me a good candidate for surgery
I just started going to the Wood County Hospital Weight Center and had my first visit on 7-27-07
I talked to the dietician and also the physician's assistant, I'm pretty convinced I want some sort of weight loss surgery
Now I have to go through the long process of testing and getting insurance approved
I first went in there hoping to have the Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass surgery, but they think with my age and weight that the Vertical Gastrectomy with Duodenal Switch will benefit me better
