My update

My name is Lynn Squires and I am 44 years old.  I live in Lockport, NY near Buffalo and Niagara Falls.  I have been married for 17 years and we have a 13 year old son,  I have been overweight my entire adult life. My whole family is being Italians we love to eat.  My sister died at my age of 44 years old 3 years ago in June from complications from Lupus, heart disease and morbid obesity,  We talked for years about doing this and kept chickening out, I made the decision in October when I turned 44 to do this.  I started the procedure and did all the necessary testing, endoscopy and even had a filter put in my femeral artery to prevent blood clots as my sister survived a pulmonary embolism. I have lost 45 pounds prior to surgery and was scheduled for RNY on June 29th but when they went in they found a soccer size tumor on my ovary and had to remove it and my ovary.  I woke up in recovery wondering why they were giving me all the ice chips I asked for, to find out the news.  Needless to say I was devastated and also thankful that it did not rupture as they told me it was massive and if it did rupture I could have died.  So basically this surgery is going to save me life twice and I am now in the process of gearing myself up for the RNY which is scheduled for August 17th at Rochester General Hospital.  I have a great surgeon and he told me everything looked amazing when he went in and my liver was the best he had ever seen, to I am physically prepared for the surgery, but mentally I was and now I have to start all over again.  I have great faith in God so I know I can do this. This site is new to me and I am trying to get used to manuvering around it so I hope I am putting this all in the right place.  I look forward to meeting many people who are going through this also and look forward to helping others when I am ready to do that.  I wish everyone the best and look forward to hearing from you, take care and God Bless, Lynnie (Everyone calls me Lynnie)
