Lynda, I am wishing you a successful, complication-free surgery and a smooth, quick recovery. I had my open RNY on 12/10/01 and have absolutely NO regrets other than not having done this several years sooner. It is, without a doubt, the best thing I could have done for myself. God bless you as you begin your healthy new life. I am from Burlington County, NJ and Im the same age. I even have a 8 year old daughter! Also a 10 and a 6 y/o! My surgery was at Cooper Hospital. Oh I forgot to say. after my second visit my Surgeon informed since I have enlarged liver and spleen and also diabetic I have troubles with healing; we are doing it OPEN RNY and he assures me the healing is much better for my type of body; and only 6inches. ALSO he never has had the leakage problems; guess that is good Well today I am mailing my Surgeon my copy of appeal to get on the horn to the insurance company; NO one has posted info on UNIVERSITY HEALTH PLAN/Family care plan; DOES anyone in NJ have any other HMO's thru FAMILY CARE PLAN? Maybe I should switch??
