I am 51 and have been overweight my whole life (since about the age of 4 or 5). I've lost over 1200 pounds in increments of 200 pounds (twice) and 100 pounds (oh, maybe 5 times). Through OA, therapy, exercise and sheer will, I was able to lose 200 plus pound and get to my goal weight of 170 pounds and even stay there for 2-3 years. I keep learing more and more about this disease and how to manage it. However, I'm now middle-aged, and have health issues (sleep apnea, highish blood pressure, and killer osteoarthritis in my back and hip). I never have been able to keep the weight off. I can be a binger, and never really feel full.
Enter the Lap Band! It's time. I can't wait any longer, and cannot abuse my body any more. I'm very scared, but hopeful. How do you really fully prepare for a surgery like this? I'm near my top weight, and need to start anew. Today is Saturday, and my surgery is Tuesday. Any well wishes are appreciated.
