Waiting is the name of the game.
Feb 21, 2011
Well, I will be pushing my surgery date back because as of today the Insurance still has not approved it. Glad I found out today and not after I started my liquid pre-surgery diet. So, at this point we're aiming for 3/9/11. I still believe with all my heart that God wants me to do this because for me there is no other way. And I keep trusting Him and praying that everything will go accordingly. I have everyone I know, that knows about the surgery praying for me also. I truly believe there is power in prayer and with a lot of prayers comes a lot of power. Thank you Lord. I will keep posting and let everyone know when the situation changes.

Insurance angst.
Feb 16, 2011
I was just informed today that my insurance has refused me because of a no bariatric surgery clause. My HR director got me an exemption or something, but apparently the pre-cert people don't know anything about it. So, no my HR director has to make some calls and stuff to get it fixed. I hope everything is approved by 3/2 and I don't have to postpone my surgery date. Please pray that everything works out. I truly don't believe God would lead me this far, through all the tests and everything to have me turned down because of my insurance changing only 1 month before the surgery. I have always followed my heart and put my trust in God when I feel him leading and this is no different. Lord, my situation is totally in Your hands, please don't let me take it back. You can handle it much better than I can!

I have a date!
Feb 07, 2011
Saw Dr. K today, weight was essentially the same, lost 3 tenths of a pound since last visit. My tentative surgery date is scheduled for 3/2/11 pending insurance approval. Now just a few items left to complete. Have to obtain an updated H&P from my primary physician, have to see nutritionist for pre-op diet, have to go back to Dr. K's office and sign paperwork. I can't believe it, three weeks until I start my next phase of taking care of me. It almost seems surreal, after all this time it's finally here. Please pray the insurance and everything goes well. I have been praying and continue to trust God in this because I truly believe this is where he wants me to be. And I thank Him for everything going well so far.

Well, here I am again.....
Feb 05, 2011
Two days before I see surgeon for my final follow-up (6 mos). Surgery date is to be set and get approval. But, here I am again worrying if I gained weight and doing my best to at least have the scale say what it said last time. I hate having these winter dulldrums, but all I can do is get through it. I also have to discuss my insurance as it changed and they don't cover WLS, however, my HR director got me an exception. Praying that all goes well and there will be no issues. I have been in this mode since July and am getting really anxious to have this done and start the next phase. That's where I am right now. And because of this blah feeling, I also have little to no motivation to exercise, which I know has to change, no ifs, ands or buts. I have been out "window shopping" supplements and protein powder, etc., but don't want to start buying until I'm sure there will be no insurance problems. It's almost like I'm afraid buying things will "jinx" my approval. So window shopping I will continue to do and check out products and prices until then.

Keep plugging away
Jan 11, 2011
Saw the pulmonologist today for re-check after starting CPAP. Also got new Singulair prescription. The CPAP wont help much if I can't keep my allergies under control. Also, my insurance is changing on Saturday, 1/15 and it doesn't cover bariatric surgery, however, my HR director got me a waiver because I was almost there. Sometimes working for a smaller company does have advantages. So now, I have to really concentrate on my diet and exercise. WHen I see Dr. K. on 2/7, we are going to set a date. Other than that, everything's all set now. I have to really work on the diet and exercise. Please pray I get control over the bingeing because it could be my ruination.

One more step
Jan 06, 2011
Received my cardiac clearance yesterday. Funny, the EKG came back as normal, considering it was an irregularity on my EKG that started all the tests I've had. Went to my first support group on Tuesday and met some new people. Now I have to see the pulmonary doctor on 1/11 as a follow-up for my cpap. Then just keep dieting and exercising and waiting for 2/7 to set my surgery date.

getting closer
Jan 03, 2011
Saw surgeon today. Because of my insurance changing, and the fact that I just started my cpap machine 2 weeks ago, we are going to wait another month before scheduling my surgery date to make sure all the requirements are met. I plan on going to my first WLS support group tomorrow night and I see the cardiologist one more time on Wednesday, 1/5 to get my final clearance. Also, was glad that although I didn't lose a lot of weight this visit, at least I didn't gain over the holidays. Found Calcium Citrate with vitamin D3 in Giant, buy 1 get 1 free so I did, to start stocking up. Keep checking out protein powders and other things I will need for the 2 weeks prior and then post surgery.

Road blocks.
Dec 22, 2010
CPAP man is coming shortly -- then I will have to use is. Looking forward to sleep. Also just found out that my insurance is due to change in January. They are trying to work with me to make sure everything goes smoothly and I don't have any major bumps in the road. I checked with my surgeon on the requirements for the new insurance and they're not too different, I may have to have an extra visit with the dietician or so, but otherwise shouldn't be much of a change. Pray everything goes smoothly and I can have this done in February as I have been planning since August.

One more test
Dec 18, 2010
I had my endoscopy and am now on omeprazole for ulcers. Tonight is final sleep study with cpap. On 1/3 I will be scheduling a surgery date with Dr. K. I found out at work that we may be switching insurers, but my HR director assured me that they will make sure everything goes smoothly for me and if necessary they will carry me on my current insurance until after the procedure. Whew!!!!! I have been reading the forums to see what other people have had problems with and talking to many people. Trying to make sure I am as prepared as possible, even though I know everyone is different and my experience may be nothing like theirs.

Almost there

Cardiac catheterization went well, so now the cardiac clearance should be complete. Upper endoscopy on 12/15 and 2nd sleep study with cpap on 12/18. Then all testing and clearances should be done.
