lucky1
am at least 120 pounds over weight and am needing Knee replacement surgery, but doctor wants me to lose down to 180 first so had suggeted to me to have WLS. He sent me to Dr Morands office, but they said that medicare will not pay so here I am, overweight and depressed. I have lost the same weight over and over again. I want to get healthy and feel good about myself. I have a new great granddaughter and I am hoping to get healthy so that I can be around to see her grow up. I want to get down on the floor and play with her, also want to go for walks on the beach with my dear hubby. I just plain want to feel good both physicalLy and mentally! I WANT TO LIVE!!!
2005
3/31/05 10am
Called Dr Aslam's office this morning and I got a nice surprise..they had a cancellation and I get my 1st consult next week the 7th..FANTASTIC!! Also found out there was a support group meeting for the "RNY" WLS tonight and plan on attending. Will write more after I do.
4/01/05
WEnt to my 1st support group meeting in Augusta last night and Loved it!! Everyone there was so friendly. I found out lots on information from those that have already had the "RNY" Gastric Bypass. I am thinking this is the one for me!! Can't wait to get into see DR Aslam and Jeannie (RN).
4/07/05
Well today I had my 1st consult with Dr Aslam and Jeannie (RN). They made sure that we all knew everything about both the lapband and the "RNY" Gastric Bypass WLS. I thought I knew exactly which one I wanted when I went into the office, but now I am for certain I want the "RNY". WEnt over to hospital for the bloodwork ( all 11 vials) LOL, and the other test ( :)pp )
They make sure they know any and everything they can from the blood test, which I think is AWESOME!!! Will now know if my body is missing any vitamins, etc.
Now comes the running around for all the other items required..i.e. physic evaluation, dietitian, and the counselor in place. I hope to get this all done very soon.
Since medicare does not need a pre-approval, as soon as I get the paper work into the office they can schedule my WLS..WOOHOOO! Oh yes, almost forgot I also have to have the $600 they require to cover whatever the insur. does not.
I must say at this point I am ecstatic!!
I will continue working out at the new fitness center here in Windsor which should help me with the surgery. I do weights 3 x a week and cardio 5 x with the weekend off from the gym, but will still get in some walking and using my recumbent bike here at home.
Next appointment is set for 4/26/05..can't wait..lol..will write more after that.
Friday 4/08/05
Me and my DH went into Augusta today for lunch and then out to Wal-Mart. I must say my best friend/hubby :) is as anxious as I am for me to have the WLS so that I can begin my new life..He had me pick up my multi-vitamins, TUMS, and of course the vitamin B12 for under the tongue..so now I am sitting here playing the waiting game..lol..waiting for the office to call me back with a date for my physic eval..I also am waitign for my PCP to give me a referral to the nutritionist..then it is off to jump through those hoops and get all the paper work into Dr A..wow! Can't wait..
Okay I am out of here for now..be back when I know something else.
Tuesday April 12,05
Got a call today from Dr Borkums office asking me if I would like to come in tonight for my physic evaluation..I was so shocked to see it happening this fast, but I defineatly told her yes,,yes,,yes..My DH took me oveR to Waterville's Seton Unit to Borkums office. Yes I took the, over 500 question, questionare and then had my session with the nice doctor. At the conclusion, which was 3 1/2 hours long, he said that he thought I would be a great candidate for the WLS. WOOHOO!!! I have to say he was a very kind soft spoken Dr and would recommend Dr. Borkum to anyone needing their physic eval.
Now I have to get into the dietician and find a counselor. Things are really coming together very quickly..And I am LOVING IT!! Will post more as it happens. :o)
April18,2005
Wow! Where is the time going? I called my PCP office again today and they reassured me that they had indeed made the referral for my dietitian and should be hearing from them soon for an appointment. I have also made an appointment with a counselor and decided to make one for before the WLS and then keep them for if needed postop. Seems this is all I have ben talking aboutr since I made up my mind that this was the way for me to get to my "GET REAL" weight. I have been looking at all the before and after pics on the site.. and can only say WOW!! what a remarkable difference in everyone. Can't wait too see how I look in my new life! Will write more when something happens to report.
April 24,2005
Well here it is starting another week. DH had his biopsy on Thursday and now we are waiting for the results from the lab, Dr said sometime mid week. I am praying that it is not cancer, but if it is, then hopefully not the quick spreading type. He is in good spirits and says we will beat this!!!
I went for a counseling session on Thursday too. She is wanting me to come back this week again not sure why and don't really feel it is neccessary at this time. Maybe once I have the WLS, but not now. I have an appoinmeent with the dietician next month(4/17)..yes a whole month away yet..gessss.. but once that is done then everything is in place. I have an appointment on Tuesday (4/26) with Dr Aslam and maybe he can tell me how close I am to getting my date. But may have to put my WLS on hold if DH has got cancer till after his treatments are all over and he is feeling well again. Time will tell.
While at my 1st consultation with Dr A and Jeannie I am sure they said that they would like for everyone to lose 10% of their weight before the WLS. I am not doing very well with that assignment!! I have got to get back to the gym, had put it on hold till after DH was better, but I feel I am going to have to sneak in a little bit of time there at least 3x a week. I know my husband will not mind as long as he is still up and around and feeing well enough to be left alone for the short time it takes for me to workout. Okay will go for now but will write more as new things develope.
April 26,2005 6:45 pm
Went to Dr Aslam's office and saw John, the surgeon assistant, this morning. He gave me that one test where you have to blow up a little cute blue bag, then drink some stuff with a straw real quick, then blow in a pink bag and wait for 15 minutes..I AM NEGATIVE!! WOOHOO!!! Also took the little quiz of what to expect, what to eat, what vitamins to take, etc and yup was right on the money there too...lol.. I have another appointment with the counselor on Thursday and will need to remember to ask her to send in something saying I have counseling in place for if I need it after the WLS, and am planning on going to the group support meeting on Thursday as well. Then All I need to do is get to the nutritionist for that appointment next month and I am all done till my surgery date..I am so looking forward to starting my new life, with looking and feeling good!!! :)
April 27,2005 11:45am
WOW!! I see that the ones here at OH that post our pics on here have got mine added..THANK YOU..THANK YOU.THANK YOU.. Now for some even better news..lol Dr A's office called me this morning and asked if I had my nutritionist done yet...NO!! Told her that I could not get into them till May 17th, so she asked if I would be interested in seeing Jill Young..WELL NO!! lol..if I can get into her faster why not?! And since I have some sort of kidney probelms that Medicare might even pay for it..WOOHOO!!! But if not Jill only changes $50 where as the one from Maine General(on Caldwell in Augusta) are changing $88. Sounds like a great deal to me. I had read that it takes months and months to get your WLS date..but since I do not have to get prior autorization from Medicare no wait there..lol..FANTASTIC!! So now DR A's office is kinda waiting on me..:O)
My DH, bless his heart, has told me to go ahead with my plans for the WLS as soon as I can get it, instead of waiting on him to find out about the lung cancer. I am not sure this is a good idea, but he is insisting, so what am I to do?? He knows how long I have wanted to have my life back and be able to do fun things with him and the family, also he wants me to be healthy!
April 28,2005 12:30pm
Well it is raining cats and dogs here today, but I won't let that stop me from going into Augusta to the group support meeting today at 5pm. EVery one there is so nice and full of information that I can sure use on my WLS journey.
I went to Jill Young yesterday at 5pm and she is a very nice lady who knows anything and everything you would ever need to know about nutrition both before and after WLS. She thinks I will do great with my WLS journey. She said that she would get my papers into Dr A's office on Monday morning so that is the last thing they will need before they give me a date..GREAT!! So now I just wait!! But till thn I will continue on with the support group meetings each month and absorb all the information I can..lol..Will come back and write more when I have something to report.
April 29,2005 11:00am
My DH and I went to Dr.A's group support meeting last night for gastric by pass and I got lots of good information that I will be able to use once I have the WLS. Thanks to all who have helped get me up to date on all information my head can hold.
I am getting more excited each day!! I am so ready to start losing weight and get myself healthier than I have ever been. To take walks on the beach with my sweetie, get down on the floor and play with my great granddaughter and still be able to get up on my own..wow..what a great thing for me to be able to enjoy life to the fullest! Will be back to write more when I have more news.
May 3, 2005 9pm
Well nothing to report about tonight. Wish I would get a call giving me a date..lol..maybe tomorrow. But then still have to get my DH's biopsy scheduled too and should wait till after that before I do mine. Will come back and enter more into my journal when there is something to write.
May 5,2005 8pm
Just found out that my profile page has been all spruced up and I have to say AWESOME JOB!!! WOW!! Thanks to Michelle for taking the time to find out what I really wanted it to look like and try to keep me straight on where to look for ideas..and then to Rene for actually sprucing it up to perfection!! You are both wonderful and I love it!!! :o) No news on my WLS date yet, but am sure I will soon get that life changing phone call. My DH goes to have his lung biopsy next Wednesday so I will be doing lots of praying. I know the Lord will take care of him. Will write more when I know more. Again Great work and Love the song..my favorite one!!! You gals rock!!!
May 6, 2005
WOOHOO!!!I GOT MY DATE!!! Yup got a call this morning at 8:30 and asked me how soon I wanted my WLS. Well of course as soon as possible..lol..but have to have that $600 before the WLS can be done so I had to say next month otherwise she was ready to give me a date of the 16th or 18th of this month. That would have been awesome, but lets be practicle here I need the extra time to squeeze out the last of the $600 from my budget. That is okay with me, since DH has to have his lung biopsy this month and maybe we will have some good news before my WLS date!!!! I go into Dr.A's office for my physical on the 19th of this month and then will be all set for the 6th. Soon I will be joining the losers side of life!!! AND LOVING IT! More later.
May 27th 6:30pm
WOW!! It has been a few weeks since I have been here. Not much has happened lately. Went to the group support meeting last night and Dr. Aslam was the guest speaker. He had lots of info on the pannectomy(tummy tuck) and I am so looking forward to the time when I will be ready for that..lol..which means I have reached my goal weight..whooohoo..which will be at least a year from my WLS date. I was going over the list of things I need to have ccompleted before my WLS and found I had left something out. So glad it was found in time..lol..I had to make an appointment with the respiratory therapy office so that I could get my spirometer for my bearthing after my surgery on the 6th. Where would I have been without that, surely not breathing and recouping very well. But I have an appoinment the morning that I also have my physical with Dr.A. next Tuesday,May 31st. Will go do that then the physical and then the next day, June 1st, will go to the hospital for pre-registration.
I am still trying to get that 10% weight off that he wants done before we have the surgery, but am finding it very hard with DH having the chemo and radiation treatments everyday of the week. But hopefully will be done a little and the doctor will say that is okay! I will write more as I am getting closer to my DATE!ONLY 10 DAYS LEFT!!!
May 31,2005 1pm
Had my physical this morning with Dr Aslam and his assistant plus his very handsom son was there. They are all awesome in his office. I passed everything, but he says I will be a little more difficult since I have had gallbladder surgery the old way, with the long incision from top to bottom of stomach area. Also says that since I have the spinal stimulator in my back might cause a small problem, but we can handle that. So it looks like I will have my bypass open, he has to clean out all the adhesions while he is in there to help with my by pass. Might cause me a little more discomfort, but nothing I can't handle as long as I can lose this weight and get my life healthy! Tomorrow is my pre-op and have to be there by 7:30 in the morning, so will be early to bed tonight.:-) Then the good stuff, the anti biotics and fleets I shall pick up tomorrow while in town and then lots of fun the day before surgery!!LOL..will write more later. WOW!! GETTING SO EXCITED NOW!! LOOK OUT LOSERS HERE I COME!!!! For once I won't mind being a loser.
June 2,2005 3:20pm
ONLY 4 DAYS TO GO!! Getting more excited each minute.
Wow! It is already June and the weather here in Maine has finally gotten much better, in the upper 70's and lower 80's fantastic!
My DH is having lots of problems with his lung cancer. Always feels sick to his stomach and is not eating and only just yesterday he has started to drink a little gatorade, water, and crystal light. Just wish I could get him to drink more. He is so dehyrated and that is not good. He is still going Mon.-Fri. for radiation in Augusta and he has finished his 1st round of chemo with the 2nd one starting on June 16th. I am seriously worried that he is not going to make it if things don't turn around for him. I will just continue to leave this in God's hands, as he is the one who decides who he wants to come home and who he wants to stay here on earth and continue on with their lives. Hate to cut this short, but have to take him into town to see our PCP and hopefully he will give us some good news. Till then..
Friday, June 3,2005
I got a call today from Dr. Aslams office and got quite a surprise! I was asked if I still wanted to have my WLS done by Dr A..YES!! Of course..lol...but then she continued to let me know why they were asking: he is planning on retiring the end of this month. Can you even imagine?? Here I finally decide to have the RNY done and he is retiring. Like he was just waiting for me to make up my mind to get healthy through weight loss..lol..and then he is putting up his knife and scalple.
I am truly sorry to hear he is leaving, but I do understand his reasoning, with malpractice insurance going so high! I must say although I have not known Dr A as long as a lot of members here on OH, I will miss him.
I do beleive that my DH has gotten himself back to a more healthy state. Took him today for his port to be put in and then to the oncologist Dr and he sent him to the chemo clinic to get some fluids pushed. He was totally dehydrated. I could see the color coming back into his face once they started pushing the fluids and the nausea meds.Dr also gave him a prescription for the same nausea meds and wwow! are they ever expensive..$410.55 for just 20 pills( they must have gold in them). He is even eating now and drinking.. Thank you God! I pray that he will continue to get his strength back each day. Till later....
Saturday June 4,2005 6:45pm
I am sitting here waiting for others to come into the OH Maine boards chat I set up, so thought I might write a little more on my profile page. This is the 1st day of my liquid diet before my gastric by pass surgery on Monday morning and I have not done too bad, but tomorrow is the clear liquid day plus the yucky stuff I have to drink. I plan to be close to the porcelain god tomorrow.lol.. Yes it is very exciting to finally realize my dreams may come true and for once I will be at a healthy weight soon! I am just waiting for the day i can get on the floor with my grand and great grand kids and be able to be there for a length of time and still get up on my own. And to take long walks on the beach in the summer with my wonderful husband, after all we aren't getting any younger..lol..But maybe just maybe with the healthier weight I might live a longer life than with this 270# I am carrying around now. Okay it is getting closer for to our chat time so will just say more to follow.
June 28,2005 6pm
WOW!! Has it really been over 3 weeks since I posted here?!! Where has the time gone. I am now post op and am a loser!!!WOOHOO!! My WLS went fairly well, but did have a leak so Dr decided to keep me in hospital for 8 days and on a feeding pump..good old Osmolite..YUCK!! I felt fine other than the runs..lol..which as of today I still have, but Dr does reassure me that it will go away. That he thinks it is a combination of the anti-biotic ( augment) and the osmolite I have been taking. Went to Dr on the 21st and had to have another one of those lovely swallow tests, and flunked it..lol..still have a small leak they said so stay on thefeeding pump at home for another week. Then went for the great swallow test again yesterday, 4th one I might add, and saw DR A today and LOW N BEHOLD no leak..FANTASTIC. Can now take fluids by mouth, shich I have not been able to do till today and will work my way up to an 800 calorie daily diet. Will see the doctor again on July 8th and if all goes well will get the feeding tube out. Left if in so that I can be sure to get in enough fluids till I am more used to eating and drinking. I am feeling fantastic other than the back pain which is not from my WLS, but from previous surgeries and work related issues. I am looking forward to being able to get away from the bathroom..lol.. and fiannly taking a nice walk. But think I shall wait for it too cool off a tad bit outside. Anyway it feels good to be on the road to losing weight and getting my life back!
Thanks to Dr Aslam for letting me be his last WLS patient and helping me to finally reach my dream of becoming healthy!
July 6,2005 7:15pm
Had to call Dr Aslam today, my G-tube(feeding tube) was getting infected. He called me back and wanted me to come to office ASAP, so I was there within 30 minutes. He said it wasn't too bad and since it was to come out on Friday anyway he would just pull it. It did sting a little when he pulled it out but nothing I could not handle. Now he says I do not need to see him again till Dec20th..WOW!! that seems like a long time to go, but he must think I am doing good. Only lost 2# this week, but have not been able to do any exercising at present so I am not too unhappy with the small loss.
I will try to keep my profile updated as time goes on, but it is a little hard with my DH in hospital fighting for his life. I spend most of my time thee with him. But do know that I also need to take care of me so that the WLS was not in vain~!
More as time goes on!
August 7, 2005
Sunday 9:30 am
WOW!! It has been a month since I posted in my journal! Where has the month gone?! LOL.. I am now down 40# from WLS date and feeling great other than the pesty back problem, which hopefully will be taken care of soon. Once we get back to Illinois next month, I have surgery scheduled for the 8th of Sept to replace the battery pack to my spinal stimulator and I pray this one will last longer than 3 years. Would be nice if one of the great doctors here in Maine would take me as a patient and take care of the never ending problem, but as of this date they all are saying no way!
I have been taking advantage of how I am doing with the weight loss and the extra enegry I have. Yesterday we went to Dexter's wild west days and to their lake for a small family reunion for my wonderful hubby. His son and his family came and all had a fantastic visit and some great food. YUP I did the honors of preparing it all and even had some good chocolate chip splenda cookies that no one was the wiser on..LOL.. and they all lived after eating something more healthy for them! smile..smile.
Today we are getting ready to take our daughter and son-in-law, who moved up here last fall from Illinois, to Cadilac mountain and Bar Harbor..OH THE SHOPS THEY HAVE AT BAR HARBOR! Can't wait. Will definetly get in some major walking today!
I am now down into a size 18 comfortably..lol..maybe to comfortably if you know what I mean. It is awesome to be able to feel this good and even to look good in shorts and tank tops! Well maybe not looking as good as I would like but most definetly looking better than last summers model!
I think they are almost ready to leave so will be back again soon to write more.
OH yes my DH is doing so much better he is up and walking by himself. He is even going to Cadilac mountain for the hike today! He will sleep good tonight for sure!
Okay be back again soon for another update on ME!
August 28,2005 9pm
WOW!!!!It has been a few week since I have been on the OH website and it is time for an update on me..lol..I am now in a size 16, but an 18 is still a little more comfy yet..you know not so tight around the waist. And yes it is a straight size not a size 16W any longer which is fantastic.
I am still having issues with my eating ( doing a lot of throwing up)and am thinking I might need to give DR A a call to make sure that everything is okay with me. Hope that he can take care of the problem, if there is one, and not have to send me off to another Dr. But if he does I will just deal with it.
I am getting ready to fly back to Illinois on Sept 6th to have my battery pack to my stimulator replaced surgically..like I haven't had enough surgery already. But after I come back from that I am scheduled to have my knee replacement surgery on Sept 19th..Gotta get that new knee to go with the new body I am getting after the WLS..smile..smile..
Anyway will be getting to visit with my son and his family while back in Illinois which I am looking forward to and they have not even seem a pic of me yet after losing the 50# so far. Can't wait to see the look on their faces!!!!!
Okay I am out of here for now. Will try to come back more often
and update my profiel so that you all can see how well I am doing.
Will also get some new pics done of me so that I can post them here.

Future Update
November 6,2005 5pm
Hello everyone,
Wow! Can not believe how long it has been since I have been on this website and updated my profile, but guess better late than never.
I am doing pretty good with the eating now, but do at times still feel sick and have to throw up a little to feel better. Hope that one day that passes, but till then I will just watch what I eat and how much.Still can only eat 2-3 bites ,once in awhile a little more, but not much or often. Can not eat meat very well, but love veggies so that is okay. I had to switch to lactaid for milk, but am going to try to drink a little 1% once again since it has been 5 months since surgery or since I tried any milk.
My DH and I are getting ready to make the move back to my home state of Illinois. We are headng out from Maine on the 14th. Just hope and pray that our health is good enough to handle the long drive of 1400 miles. We will be at our sons in a little town of CArlinville. He hurt his back at work (like mother like son I suppose). Anyway we are going to go back and try to help him and his family through the tough times. And may decide to move back there for good!
I am now down to a wonderful size 14..I have never been that size before! Had to give away most of the BIG clothes, but did send a few things to seamstress for alterations to hold me over till I am at my final goal! Think that will be somewhere are 150#. My DH says he needs a flashlight to find me in bed..lol..it is awesome hearing him give me so many compliments..like no butt, skinny..lol..you all know those words we want to hear!
Did go and have total knee replacement back In sept. still not sure if that was wise at this time, but hey it is done so I am dealing with it. I have gotten most of my flexablitiy back in the knee and am walking most of the time without any cane or assistance. CAn even climb stairs, but going slowly on them..lol... can't wait till all the pain and swelling is gone so that I can get out and do some serious walking! You might say I put my body through an awful lot this past few months..had the RNy in June, then had more back surgery in Sept plus the total knee replacement 10 days later. Afterall, the day I came home from the knee surgery went directly to PCP for some sutchers to be removed from the back side. Now how sick is that..LOL!
Oh yeah, My wonderful hubby,CR, is doing much better since he has finished his chemo and radiation treatments. They will do another Cat scan next month once we are back in Illinois, to double check. We do have dr's set up once there so that he will not be lost in the shuffle! He has gained most of his lost weight back. They give him meds to help with that...lol..thank god I am losing while he is gaining. After all it was my dream to weigh less than he does. I might get there yet!
Okay I am going to go for now, but please know I will try to not take so long to come back and post here on the site. I pray all goes well with eveyone who is still having or contemplating have WLS. My life is great!
PS Scroll all the way down to see my weight chart..AWESOME! Not obese now, just over weight. WOOHOO!!!!

Future Update
April 08,2006 Saturday
Sorry it has been like forever since I have been to the site and or updated my profile, but am sure you will all understand. My husband started having severe headaches back in November and when he went to the doctor found out that a cancer cell had broken loose and went to his brain. They stopped counting at 12 tumors. Started him on radiation immediately to help shrink them so that the pain would subside. He went through a week of that and then we moved back to Illinois. There was nothing more they could do to help him with the cancer or brain tumors, but to make him as comfortable as possible.
We got into our new home right after 1st of year and we put him on Hospice. They were wonderful and I kept him at home after he had made 2 trips to hospital here and there was nothing they could do for him that I could not do at hime with the help of hospice coming in 3 times a week. So I took care of him here at home until the end. he passed away at 11:45pm, Jan.23,2006.
It is hard being without him,but at the same time I know he is in a much better place and we will be together again one day. he will be waiting at the gate for my arrival.
Now for me..I found a great PCP here in Carlinville, Dr Josh Poos..lol..can you imagine going through life with a name like Poos?! Anyway, he is great and referred me to a WLS in Springfield, Il. Went to see him last week and him and all his staff was surprised at how good I am doing and how much I have lost. I am now down from a tight size 24womens to a loose size 11/12 juniors. I even put 3 pair of size 10 capris in layawy for the summer. I tried them on..got them on and zipped/fastened and thought hey, I can wear these without a problem this summer. I AM LOVIN IT!!
I now am at my goal weight, which was to be 1 pound smaller than my late husbands halthy weight of 165..so that makes me 164#. The WLS thinks I should get down to 140 as is what Dr Aslam had originally thought, but not sure if that is being realistic..was a 150/155 all through highschool way back when..lol..so I am just going to take it one day, one pound at a time.
I am very pleased with my results thus far!!
I have not seen a lot of people here in Illinois that I used to know when living here, but am going over to my old stomping gorunds tomorrow, Sunday and can't wait to see everyones reactions!!!
My kids are proud of how I am doing and look!!! So are the grandkids!
I do have problems eating meat of any kind and if I try I still get very sick and have to throw it up. Sorry if this is too gross, but thought those of you might like this info if you are just getting ready to go through with the WLS.
Oh yeah, I mowed my yard today..lol..have not done that since 1988!! WOOHOO!! Also while watching my grandkids yesterday me and my 7 year old granddaughter got on the floor and we did pushups..I have never been able to do them!! Of course not too good at it, but hey it is a start!
My BMI is almost down to normal too..the chart is almost on normal weight..lol..just 5 pounds and I am NORMAL!! :o)
I will be returing to Maine next month for 3 weeks for those of you there in Maine might be able to save some time to meet with you around the Augusta area if interested. Just email me and let me know. Will be around the last week in May and first of June.
Okay I am out of here for now. Hope to pop back in more often now and keep my profile update. Will also try to post a few newer pics of me.
Take care till later.. God Bless!

November 4,2006
OH MY GOD!!!!!!! Has this website changed since my last visit, but it is all good. I have made some drastic changes as well..lol..
I reached my ultimate goal long ago and sorry I have lost touch with you all and the OH website.
Let me see where to start..I made a trip back to Maine in July of this year and stayed for almost a month. I was a little relunctant at first sicne I had not really been here to visit since my DH passed away. I was afraid I might not be able to handle the visit without him, but you know,...I DID AWESOME!! As a amatter of fact I decided it was time for me to get out and mingle and do a little dancing. So I got dressed up and went to a place where my late DH and I used to go dancing. I told myself I was going to dance with anyone who asked me..lol..and I DID JUST THAT!! The first one to aske me just happend to be an elderly 85 year old gentleman, but I danced! Then a couple others asekd me and yup I danced.. not caring to dance with one of them but hey was only for one evening and maybe just one or two dances..plus great exercise. Then this good looking guy asked me to dance and we danced the rest of the night. What an awesome dancer..lol.we danced so much alike and I HAD A SUPER GREAT NIGHT!! Before the night was over I had told him I was coming back the very next night and he decided he would meet me back there. He walked me to my van and gave me a nice kiss. My daughter, son-in-law, and I returned the next night and in came Terry..he came over and sat with us. He and i danced to several songs till intermission.. he then went outside and returned with a dozen RED ROSES!! What a BUTTMUNCH..LOL.. which is now my pet name for him.
We continued to dance to almost every song tht night.. Daughter and son-in-law were great chaparones but they decided to go home and I let Terry take me home. We went for a nice drive before going home and had such a great time just talking and enjoying each other. Think I will leave the rest up to your imagination..lol. He asked me to go to a sock hop the next night and well yes I accepted. WE went to the sock hop and wow what a great time we had. I was certainly getting in plenty of intentional exercise with the dancing.
After this weekend of dancing it was like Terry an I were inseperable. Thank God he was on vacation! We had lots of time to spend together getting to know each other. We went bike riding(motorcycle)..yes me a gal who just a few months before was way over 200# and had lsot my DH, but you know something that he had made me promise himw as that I would get out and live, enljy life, and at least date if not get married again. So at this point in my life I did nto feel quilty about going on with life! TErry and i went to the beach..me in shorts and at a beach.. no way!! BUT YES I DID~!! AND ENJOYED IT!! Terry took off work for a few hours to see me off when it ws time for me to head back to Illinois~~~ God knows i did nto want to leave but this time..too funny..but had promised my granddaughter and great granddaughter that we would go back to illinois on this date and so be it!! Anyway the summer ended up being the best!! TErry and I continued to keep in touch via phone..Thank God for cell phones.
After returing home to Illinois Terry and I talked several times daily and we decided that maybe we whould give us a chance. So we decided for me to return to Maine via flying. On August22,2006 I took my next journey in my new life. Back to Maine and with Terry. To date we are doing fantastic. He is planning on taking early retirement in Jan.2007 and making the move to Illinois. Not sure he will like it there, but you know if not we can always move back up to Maine. I love it up theer and as long as I can go back to Illinois couple times a year to see kids I will be good~!
Now for an update on my Weight Loss...I have surpassed any plans of making my ultimate goals, but here I am wearing a size 7/9 Jr clothes and am down to 137#. I still get sick to my stomach some expecially if I eat meat, but it is less than it used to be and I now realize that most meats might not be in my diet.. but hey I am okay with that. I can only eat a few bites at a time and get told oftent hat i do not eat as much as a bird, but i eat enough to fill me up so that is what is important. I do eat more often ,but in very small quanities. I can drink milk again, which was the one main thing I missed..I drink/use 1% milk and all is great there! I have an appointment with a diabetic/nutritionist this month on the 14th so see what I might be able to add to my food plan. She might have some good ideas, at least it is worth a try.
During the weight loss while living in Illinois last spring/summer I was walking 5-7 mikes 5 days a week and lovin it. To think that in March when I actually started my walking program i could not even take a few steps without falling down. But i would get right back up and get back to it. It took me a few trys but once I kept at it it got easier. I actually looked forward to my walks by this time. Now that I an back in Maine ( for part of the winter) I am only walking 2-3 times a week and probably only walking 2 miles each time.
Well guess I have bored you all enough for now so will close, but I wil return more often and post how I/WE are doing... GOD BLESS YOU ALL....LIFE IS GOOD~~~
