Unwanted Attention
Mar 29, 2012
Ok, so I've always received complements. But, now it's more complements, more stares, more conversations. At first it was fun and nice, but sometimes it can be kinda scary. I talked to my honey about the extra unwanted attention. He seems to think its ok for now.

Losing too slow?
Nov 19, 2011
Ok, I've heard that I'm losing the weight really slow. I'm not sure if that's true, but I'm pleased. I don't wanna lose too fast and then I can't keep up with toning my body. Anyway, I notice that I lose more pounds when I don't drink protein. I rarely miss, but I was curious to see what happens to my weight. When I drink 75g per day of protein, I lose about 2lbs per week, but I still lose inches. I haven't had protein for about 5 days (i need to buy more) and I have lost 4lbs.
I'm also eating whatever I want, except salad. I could order salad for lunch, but I'll never finish it. So, I guess I'll wait until Thanksgiving and then I can get just enough for me. I still choose my choices carefully and I don't over do it. However, I didn't have wls just to eat diet foods. So, when I say I eat what I want...I really mean it. I may only have 2 or 3 bites, and I eat a little more for dinner and maybe again the following morning. So, this could affect how fast or slow I'm losing. I'm only careful about how much sugar or fried foods I eat. Really sweet things make me feel weighed down. I had Orange Chicken w/Steamed Rice for dinner one night. I added sweet n sour and mandarin sauces. I wasn't thinking at all about how sweet it was gonna be. After eating only a few bites, I felt really weird, like I wanted it to come up or come out. Anyway, I ended up falling asleep for about an hour and then felt better. That was my first and last dumping experience. As for fried foods, well, it's just not good for anybody. So, I try to minimize my intake.
So, I'm not gonna worry about how fast or slow I'm losing. I'll worry when the scale stops or goes the other way.

1 month later...
Nov 04, 2011
So, I had my one month follow-up this past Wednesday. Everything is going so good. I have lost 26lbs and I feel good. I haven't had any problems, except learning that I'm now lactose intolerant. I'm getting in my protein...18oz per day = 75 grams. Woo Hoo! I'm getting in my calcium citrate and multivitamin. I could do better on the iron. After the group meeting on Wednesday, I think I my switch to a prenatal vitamin and a chewable iron.
I also returned to the gym today. I saw my physical trainer and he noticed the weight loss. He was with a client, so we didn't talk very long. I only did 30 min on the elliptical. I've also been walking during breaks at work. It has been really good.

Why I did it...

So, I finally had surgery on 10/3/11. I had been secretly considering it for years, but i sort of felt like I was giving up if I chose wls. Anyway, my desire for children became increasingly important to me. I have PCOS and weight loss has had a positive effect on the symptoms. So, my PCP suggested WLS. At that time, my current insurance wouldn't approve it because it wasn't in my employers plan. One day I went to cancel my gym membership and decided to actually workout. I had a membership for almost a year before I even actually went. So, I signed a contract for a personal trainer and started working out 3 to 4 days a week. That lasted with great results for almost 6 months. And of course...I couldn't keep the weight off. So, I just stopped eating my trigger foods...bread...and cut back on soda. But my PCOS had always made it harder for me to loose the weight. Then in Jan/11, I was blessed to start working for a new company and my insurance kicked in Feb/11. The first thing I did was get a consultation appt for wls.
I was so excited when the dr's office called me before my appt just to tell me wls was covered by my insurance. YES! My life was falling into place and I could have children one day.
