It Was Surgery Day!
Aug 26, 2012
My surgery was scheduled for May 17th 2012. I had never been so excited in my life, I never felt nervous nor afraid of the outcome. I arrived at St Luke's Hospital in The Woodlands Texas, signed in and was ready to roll.
The nurses there were the best, my IV was hard to put in and had to be done 3 times, but I expected that since i had not eaten or drank anything since 10pm the previous night. I changed into a hospital gown, ted hose, and non-skid-footwear. The doctors talked to me about anesthesia, the surgery and all hat good stuff. They wanted to go a little early which was fine with me.
So i said bye to my family, and before I knew it they were pulling the stretchers from the area i was in. The anesthesiologist took my hand and pushed some drugs into my IV and I was in the OR. All I remember was scooting over to the operating table and I was gone.
Woke up at the PACU (post op) sleeved and drowsy :D. So for the next few hours I was in and out of it as people came to see me and make sure I was ok. I was then taken to a very nice room where the nurses took great care of me and the bariatric surgery coordinator was amazing checking on me and making sure I was doing fine. The next day I was taken to radiology to have my "leak test." That was the only time i threw up in the hospital and the first of only 2 times I threw up since the surgery.
Since everything was looked fine i was released within 24 hours and was on my way home and on my way to recovery.
