Another Long Overdue Update

Jul 22, 2010

I'm now a year and 10 months post-op and healthy ~ a normal weight and BMI!  Seem to have plateaued at 153 lbs (136 lb weight loss) and it pings up and down in a 5lb range.  I look great, I feel great.  I don't have any complications from the surgery and never did.  Just mild dumping syndrome here and there when I eat something with too much sugar or fat.

I have some saggy skin issues on thighs, butt, crotch, a moderate panus, upper arms and my boobs are pretty much non-existent and flat but they were small to begin with.  I'm hoping to get a complete lower body lift and boob job but will need around $25K unless my insurance covers part of the cost.  I have some chronic skin "issues" where there is too much skin rubbing together in my thigh/crotch area so they may do the lift.  I just got my referral to Plastics ~ PLEASE PRAY FOR ME that they say YES!

Long Overdue Update

Jul 06, 2009

Well, so much for thinking I would be posting regularly!  I wish I had kept up the blogs here but I did keep a paper journal and plan to update here on how the surgery went, which was well, and how things were post op.  I think it's valuable for those who are contemplating surgery to see what those of us who had it went through.  Just a quick update for now:  surgery went great, no real problems to speak of in the following weeks, months.  The first week was rough just due to the gas pains but it wasn't too bad.  If given the choice again, I would have the surgery again absolutely.  It's the best thing I ever did for myself!  I've lost 110 #s to date and hoping to lose another 30.  I have some loose skin but nothing outrageous or unexpected.  I feel great, more energetic and healthy.  I've had a few episodes of dumping but that is all.  Usually with dairy or fatty foods.  I will try to get the highlights out of my journal and into blog form soon.

1 Day Before Surgery!

Sep 01, 2008

Woke up this morning and had to drink the Milk of Magnesia.  Taste was horrible and I drank a glass of water right after to keep it down.  We shall see what the day brings!    Supposed to stay on the 1200 cal diet - no changes but feel I should eat "lighter" for surgery tomorrow.

My mood is getting more ancy and I have that holding my breath feeling in my sides.  I need to remember to just breathe.  I don't want to think of all the what ifs so I plan to keep busy (and near the bathroom) by going through all my clothes and sorting them into size groups.  I have sizes ranging from 24 to a 13/14. That way, I'll know what I can wear as I can before I can't - if that makes sense, lol.  Right now all my clothes are all jumbled up.  I also need to see if I have some smaller size work clothes that my daughter can use and then return to me.  Her surgery is next week but she's already out of clothes due to losing 35#s.

My next post will be post-surgery.  I hope to be able to keep this profile current with what's going on so that I can be of help to anyone else.  I know reading other folk's pages has helped me.

That's all for now, got to go!  (No pun intended! ha ha)
