Day after Thanksgiving

Here I sit at the computer. I weighed myself last night and I'm down 28 pounds since starting my pre-surgical diet on 11/4. AWESOME!
I feel great and have had NO pain and no need to take the liquid pain medicine. I will return to work on Monday, 12/1. Guess I should check my closet and make sure I have something to wear!
My parents have been here, but it's been complicated. My mother is a diabetic amputee whose kidneys are failing resulting in dialysis three times a week. My dad cares for her 24/7 and it's a real strain. I see that and say "No way ... that will not be me!"
Anyway, Dad has done great caring for the dogs and getting me set up with enough dog food so that I don't have to lift a 35 pound bag and dump it into the food bins until AFTER the 6 week "no lifting" anything over 15 pounds directive expires. I've been out with the dogs and they are fine - no one is jumping at me, but I can tell they miss me .... ok, they are ALWAYS happy to see me ... ok, they are happy to see ANYONE! Who am I kidding?

It's a beautiful Sunday morning. The dogs have been out romping in the yard since 5 am and are now resting peacefully in their runs. It's cool this morning and they are so full of themselves ... doing the Collie play bow and chasing each other as they zip in and out of the Leyland cypress trees.
It's been a hard week. Sleep doc called early last Sun evening (yes, he works all the time!) to let me know he had the results of my sleep study. Seems I have moderate sleep apnea with 117 partial apneas observed - averaging about 20 times each hour! He's recommended trying a CPAP machine which I picked up on Tues. My first night was scary - I was awakened at 2 am, grabbing the mask from my face and gasping for air. I'm sooooo not liking this feeling!

Oct 24 - pre-surgery consult with Dr. Gersin
Oct 27 - pre-surgery consult with Nutritionist
Nov 4 - begin liquid diet
Nov 7 - pre-surgical appt at hospital
Nov 18 - report to hospital at 5 am; surgery at 7:30 am
