My Journey

Day of Surgery 1/17/06
I'm an easy going, confident person who enjoys life, friends and family. I didn't have a problem with my weight or how I looked except the fact that I was starting to have health problems. I also started having problems with moving, my knees started bothering me, to get up from a chair was getting harder. So after many many years and researching I finally decided that WLS was something I needed to get my health back. I had my surgery January 17, 2006.
01/25/06 I'm one week out from my surgery and my dr. said I am doing great. I was having some problems with liquids only but I got started on creamy soups, sugar free fudgicles, V8 juice among other things and it helps. I had tomato soup today and it was very good. I've lost 11 pounds in the past week and I am happy with that.
02/14/06 It has been 4 weeks and I'm down 26 pounds. Basically I'm doing pretty good but I am having a little problem with eating as my pouch is a little sore. Spoke to the physcian's assistant at the clinic yesterday and went over what to eat and not to eat, so I just have to take it easy. I think part of my problem is that I had reflux problems before and I'm not on my reflux medicine anymore. I'm sure it will all work out though, I'm finding out what I can and cannot eat right now and I guess it's just part of the process.
03/25/06
Been awhile since I updated this. I am now down 56 pounds (pre-op and post-op). I am very happy the weight is coming off, but I've hit a couple of plateaus which is hard. I'm not having any problems with reflux anymore. I'm really concentrating on making sure I eat the right amount and to take 20 minutes to eat and I'm feeling much better because of it. I'm also trying to step up my exercise a bit but I'm having problems with my sciatic nerve so I can walk for a bit then it starts hurting. So basically, I am doing water exercise at the Y and that doesn't bother me and I really do love the water.

Had my 3 month check up last week and I am now down 69 pounds. I was so excited that I was actually down under 300, first time in about 15 years. I'm doing well, and feeling good.
01/28/07
Been a long time since I've been on here, been busy with school part time at night and working full time. It's now been a year since my surgery and I'm down 106 pounds. I go for my year check up with Dr. J. Baker next week. I'm feeling pretty good, exercising 5 to 6 times a week at the Y which surprises me. Never liked to exercise and now I actually like it somewhat.
