Lois, regarding your post today about support or at least acceptance from those around you: I totally understand where you're coming from. When I was a pre-op, I told everyone about the surgery, and only 3 people were happy for me - out of about 50, and you can bet that the other 47 not only didn't approve, they didn't even understand the surgery! I figure if they don't approve, that is because they just don't know anything about the surgery. Therefore, I made a point of talking about the surgery constantly to anyone around me and making sure they understand why I wanted the surgery. Of the 3 people that approved, 2 were medical professionals; the 3rd was my sister (and bestest friend) and she totally understood why and where I was coming from. Now that I'm a post op (8 weeks) and have lost 54 pounds, everyone is excited for me. I hope you will help educate the masses - even against their will - and keep your chin up! We're here for you when you need encouragement. Just know that the truly hardest part is getting to the surgery table - after that, it may be hard, but it's not a constant battle and struggle. Best wishes for you on your upcoming experiences!!! (((Hugs))), your AMOS sister, Deana.
