3rd fill on March 15th. YUCK!
Mar 16, 2010
I had my third fill on March 15th. I think this is my last for a while. I lost 30 pounds so far. Yippie!!!
This last fill has me feeling horrible. I can feel every little drop of water going down, my tummy making all sorts of weird noises... LOL! And I also have heartburn (I think it's heartburn). It's a nagging, dull, pain. I wonder if this last fill was just too much?
But I was able to sip my water after the fill with no problems.
I'm gonna wait a few days until my tummy adjusts. Hopefully this feeling will go away. I'm back on the Nexium, for now.
I still have no regrets. My BP was 100/63 today, so I'm going to talk to my PCP about letting go of some of these BP meds.

First Fill - 29 Days Post Op.
Jan 09, 2010
I had my first fill on Wednesday, January 6. The actual procedure was not bad at all. I went in a little nervous, but that part went well - and quick too.
However, I don't feel any different from before, as far as my appetite. I don't know if this is the norm - or not. I still feel as if I could eat as much as before the first fill - I'm just trying [not] to. I thought after a couple of spoons full of "mushy" food, I would feel full. I don't.
I have another appointment on February 3rd. I'll let them know. Hopefully I'll get another fill.
I'm not eating as much as before the surgery - which is GREAT!
This past week it was so COLD, I didn't get out to walk much. Next week is supposed to be a little warmer - much more tolerable. The weather guy had me scared to go out and walk in the cold - saying only to come out, "if you have to." I did go out Monday 1/4, and my knees and fingers where hurting so bad. Tue - Thu I did not go out, but Friday afternoon I went out and walked.
I felt like I had been in jail and set free.
Now I am looking for a support group in the area.

22 Days Post Surgery
Dec 29, 2009
I am down to 240. That's 16 pounds so far. Yippie!
I notice the weight loss is slowing down some. I've been working extra shifts at my job, so not much time to walk. I think I've been doing pretty good with my eating - considering what I was doing before.
Yes I've tried to cheat, but I felt HORRIBLE afterwards. Not mentally... but physically (miserable). That's a good thing. Reminding myself of that miserable feeling is a good way to teach myself to do small portions.
My first fill is January 6.
I do feel a very small difference in my clothes and I see a slight difference in my face.
These thighs are still HANGING in there. Lol! I'll be very surprised if I see any change in that because big thighs run in the family - even on the smaller sistahs in the family.
My first milestone is 200 pounds. I'm 40 pounds away from that now.
I hope everyone else is doing well and enjoying all the gifts that God has so graciously given to you. I wish you all a very Happy and Prosperous New Year and to God be the Glory!
Love!

11 Days Post Surgery
Dec 19, 2009
It's 11 days after my surgery. I've lost 13 pounds so far. This is all still so unbelievable and exciting.
I had a follow-up with my doctor on December 16th, and everything is going fine so far.
My first fill is scheduled for January 6, 2010. I can't wait.
I've done better in the past 11 days than I've done in the last 9 years.
The doctor says my ideal weight is about 145 pounds. I'm really not interested in getting that small. I think that's too thin. Personally, I'd like to be around 175 pounds. Just thick... not fat.
My sister and I went to IHOP this week for dinner. All I ordered was a bowl of grits and 1 egg. I couldn't eat it all. I ate less then half of it. My doctor says my appetite will slowly come back between now and the first fill.
I'm going to a Saints/Cowboys party tonight. The restaurant sells gumbo, so that will be my meal for the evening.
I hope you all have a great weekend.

Goooooooooooooooooo Saints!!!
After Surgery
Dec 08, 2009
I am in PAIN! But no regrets...
I feel better walking around than I do sitting or lying down. I was standing in the hall, leaning against the wall (in a corner), napping. Lol! Afraid to lie down. My tummy and back hurt the most.
I'm sipping water. I can start full liquid diet tomorrow. I'll be afraid to poop feeling like I do now. Yuck!
Did anyone else feel this crappy after lap-band surgery?

Ft. Hood - Killeen, TX
Nov 05, 2009
My heart goes out to the families of those killed and injured in the shootings at Ft. Hood. Let us stay in prayer for everyone involved - including the many witnesses that will be affected by this traumatic experience for a long time afterwards.
