May 11, 2011 - I am still maintaining. I am 7 years post op today and I weigh 129 BMI 26. I am so glad of the decision I made 7 years ago, it has made my life so much happier. Thank you God and Dr. Hart.
Surgery date May 11, 2004. Weight 267lbs BMI 53.9
10/04---I am 5 mos Post Op Down 90 lbs.
11/30/04---I am 6 1/2 months post op down 110 lbs. I am at 157 now. Almost at goal about another 25 lbs to go!!!!!
02/20/05--- I am 9 months post op and down 125 lbs. I now weigh 142lbs.
04/11/05---11 months post op tomorroww. I am down 137lbs. I now weigh 130lbs.
05/11/05---1 YEAR!!!! Yeeepeee!!!!! I am down 142 lbs. I now weigh 125lbs. I have not had ANY complications pertaining to the Gastric ByPass. I am having some complications with the umbilical hernia repair that I had at the same time as my bypass. In January 05, I had emergency surgery to remove a large puss pocket that grew around the mesh on the hernia repair. I had a 4 inch by 3 inch incision below my stomach (same place I was cut when I had a c-section in 1999). I was left open and had to have a nurse come to my home 2 - 3 times a day for about 5 weeks. I was getting close to using all the nurse visits that my insurance would allow, so my mom, husband and 12 year daughter were taught to change my dressing. I still have a small hole in the middle of my incision that will not heal. In February I formed another puss pocket in the same place. This is why the hole will not heal. It won't heal as long as the pocket is draining. I have been taking antibiotics by mouth until today. Today I had an IV inserted in my arm and I have to give myself antibiotics through it. I am not sure how long I will have to have this treatment. 1 to 4 weeks is my guess. If this does not dissolve the infection, I will probably have to have it repaired again. This would require a major operation because mesh is supposed to be permenant and not meant to be removed. I am praying that the IV treatment will dissolve the infection. Keep me in your prayers. One of the doctors that I have been seeing, seems to think that the excess skin from my stomach may be causing it not to heal. So I will be able to get my tummy tuck. Right now, I don't want to be cut on any more! They say its probably at least 10 lbs of excess skin. But we will cross that bridge when we get to it. The infection has to be completely cleared up tho.
So that's what's up with me. Would I do it again, YES in a heartbeat. Would I get any hernia's repaired....NO Don't think so.
July 14, 2005 - Down to 119 lbs. That's a total of 148 lbs.
BMI is 24.0 = NORMAL!! Yeeepppeee.

May 30, 2006 - I am fluctuating from 120 to 124. I am doing very well and haven't had any more problems with the hernia. I have NOT had any nips and tucks yet. To be honest I'm kinda scared. But I am getting more courageous as each day passes.

01/21/07 - Still holding at 121 lbs. Have not had any complications. Still loving it.
04/02/08 - Still holding 124 lbs. No complications. Woo Hoo
04/01/2009 - Still maintaining 123-125 lbs. FIVE years out on May 11!!!!!!!!!!!
