Update

Dec 26, 2006

It's been a long time since my last update. I have had a lot going on. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in August, had a lumpectomy, reduction and lift (which they found more cancer at that time), and now am just about to finish up radiation therapy. Right after being diagnosed, my breast surgeon took me off all hormones and my body weight started dropping again. Today, I am at 187 lbs. I did a lot of reading and found that obesity is a factor in breast cancer. A good thing in all of this is I found a good plastic surgeon. At some point, I will be needing a tummy tuck and now have a surgeon to take care of that when the time comes. If my weight continues going down, I am hoping to be almost to goal at my 2 year bandiversary, time will tell though. I will just keep working toward my goal.
Love and hugs!

Update

6/10/06
Hello all!
Wow, it's June 10th and I haven't been here for a while. I'm slowly still coming down in weight. It's very slow, but I'm ok with that. I'm at 208 now. I can sit in most chairs comfortably and I can even cross my legs. I really like the fact that I can cross my legs. I haven't bought any new clothing yet. Still don't want to waste money when I'm still going down. Anyway, I'm gonna go for now.

WOW moment

1/27/06
WOW! I finally went from "Extremely Obese" to just "Obese". I thought I would never get to this point. I started at 5' 3.5" weighing in at 267.5 lbs and today I finally got to 224 lbs. That's 43.5 lbs gone forever! It seems that it's coming off so slowly, but hey, I'll take it. As long as it keeps going downward at around 5 lbs a month, I'll take it. I may complain, but I will certainly still take it. I need to get another picture of me and put in on my profile so I can compare the two. Funny how several people ask, when are you going to go shopping? Why would I want to shop now? This isn't where I'm gonna stop! And hey, I have every size in my closet that I need right now. If a special occasion comes up, I might go get an outfit, but it would have to be special (like a job interview or something like that). I have a job right now, but they are moving people around in my company. We are the new AT&T and since we (SBC) bought the old AT&T things are a changing daily.

Well, I'm gonna head off for now. I'll update again later. Good luck with everyone on there own weight loss journeys.

Update

1/9/06 ~
Wow! Time flies when you're losing weight. I haven't updated in a while for which I'm sorry. Christmas was wonderful, stressful but wonderful. We sold our house and moved in the middle of December, so that added to the stress. We are still living out of boxes which is a stress all by itself. My weight has slowly been coming off. I think I average about a pound a week, which is healthy, but sometimes I get in a hurry and get aggravated that it's not coming off faster. Some people say I should have another fill, but I don't want to get a fill until I stop sliming and PBing all the time. I go through phases throughout the day and week. Most of the time I have a hard time keeping anything down in the morning and will be ok in the evening. Then my body will change it's mind and I can eat in the mornings but can't keep anything down in the evening. So, I'll just wait to have another fill until I feel I really need it. Plus, my insurance changed and I have this huge deductible so why spend money if it's still coming off? I really need to start excersizing. I know the weight would come off faster if I was moving my butt more.

My son is getting really big. He is getting more and more onry by the day. I chase him constantly and that's really the only excersize I get.

Well, I have to get back to work. I'll update again when I can.

Love and Hugs!

2nd Fill

9/16/05~
It's been a month since I updated. I got my 2nd fill on the 9th. Well, lets just put it this way, I think I have found restriction. Man, I can't hardly keep anything down. I didn't have any restriction before, so I never had to practive small bites and eating slowly and I'm paying for it now. I have lost 6 lbs since my fill. I wonder if this feeling of restriction is going to go away?

First Fill

8/12/05~
It's been forever since I updated my profile. I got my first fill today. I was very happily surprised that it didn't hurt much at all. The only part that I even felt was the burn from the lidocaine. I was also weighed today and I have lost 4 lbs since my 2 week follow up from surgery. I wish it would go faster, but I'll take it none the less.

That's all for now.

Details of surery

Pre surgery BMI 47.5

today BMI 45.5
Hi all! It been a while since I updated. I was banded last Thursday the 7th.
The details...
I arrived at the hospital at 11:17am (supposed to be there at 11:30am for 1:00pm banding). The front desk updated my info and I had to wait a couple of minutes out in the lobby for them to call me back. My husband and Mom in law were there with me for support. When I got called back, I had to weigh in, which that was 267.5, then off to the little partitioned room to put my gown on and those stupid panty hose (to help blood clotting). I really struggled with those panty hose. Worked myself up in a frenzy wrestling with those. The nurse came back to take my vitals and because I wrestled with those hose, my tempature was 101 degrees. OK, we had to stop there until it came down because they had to make sure I wasn't sick. About 20 min later, she finally got a normal temp and now it was time to start my IV (I hate needles). She gave me the lidocain shot in the hand and that felt like a sweat bee sting. Then proceeded to insert the IV, tried to start it and whoops, they blew my vein. OK...so she gonna come back and shop in a few minutes when I calm down cuz I'm so upset and crying (did I mention I hate needles). 5 mintutes later, she's back to try the other hand. Got the lidocain shot and she trys to insert the IV and nope, I don't have a good one there, so we're gonna let the anestigeologist start it. He came in about 10 minutes later and started looking at my arms for the best vein possible, got the lidocain shot, I kept asking him if he was done yet, and the next thing I know, it's done and I didn't feel a thing when he did it. The other 2 times hurt, so they must not have been doing something right, who knows. My surgeon comes in as the anestigeologist is finishing up and and said that was the hard part, now the easy part starts. They wisked me off to the operating room and the last thing I remember was moving to another bed then...lights out! Woke up at 2:20pm and getting warm blankets. The next thing I remember was being wheeled into my room at around 3:45 pm, I tried to visit with my husband and MIL and couldn't stay awake. I didn't wake up good until 6:15pm. They didn't make me get out of the bed until around 7:30pm. Went for a walk around the floor and used the bathroom then back to bed. Another thing I didn't realize is that I would have to get a shot in my belly every 12 hours, man did that burn. Anyway...I guess that's enough details about my surgery. I have lost 10.5 lbs so far. I know that's probably water weight, but it's weight none the less.
I will post again later.

Pre-Op Appt

6/29/05~
I had my pre-op today with Dr. Cribbins. The first thing I noticed when he walked in the room was his bright smile. I was very nervous, but that really put me more at ease. He really is a nice man and I'm glad I chose him to be my surgeon. The only bad part of the visit is I gained 4lbs since the consultation visit. Oh well...next Thursday things will turn around and start moving in the right direction.
I also received my order today from www.bariatriceating.com. I opened the box and it smelled absolutely wonderful. I ordered the Matrix 5lb Perfect Chocolate Protien Shake powder, Nectar Lemon Ice Tea, Rockin Rollin Peanut bars, and a package of 15 different protien flavors to do taste testing on. I can't wait to try all of them and decide which one I love the most. I got the website info from reading another members profile. Thanks Teresa for having it in your profile so that everyone who reads it will know to go there.
I guess I will go for now. Hubby is fixin to bath my son and he sounds really upset. See ya'll later!
