I have been fat for most of my life and I have hated the way I look and feel for most of my life.  I can remember in High School no boyfriends, no prom, no first dates....nothing.  I had very low self esteem.  After school I started my journey to thinness.   I went of every diet known to man kind, several diets I did 2 or 3 times.  Oh how I could have paid for the LapBand surgery 2 times over. I would always lose some weight feel better, stop the diet and gain it back and then some.  I met my Husband in 1989 and love at first sight.   I was in total shock when he asked me out, you see my hubby at the time was 5'11 and 135lbs, I could not believe he was talking to me!!!!   My wonderful husband has always loved me for me and not for what I weighed......I have went from 230 at our wedding to 180 after a crash diet and then all the way up to my highest 310 (2006), which I blame on the kids....but hey who am I kidding once your first child turns 14 and the last turns 4....it is no longer baby weight.   Anyways, weight loss surgery had always been in the back of my mind and when my best friend had the by pass surgery and quickly  dropped 150 lbs.....boy I was almost sold, then I read an article in Woman's World about the LapBand and went into my doctor and asked for help and wanted to talk to someone about this procedure.  She referred me to Dr. McEwen.   I was nervous my first meeting with Dr. McEwen and Cheryl.....but they made me feel at ease.  Dr. McEwen showed me the video and explained everything to me and my husband and answered every question we had, I was sold...this is the procedure I knew would be perfect for me.   The insurance made me jump through some hoops, but with the help of my PCP Dr. Daftari and Dr. McEwen and Cheryl I made it thur and finally got my surgery date.   Oh how excited I was, my family was so supportive and behind me 100%.  They helped me thur the liquid diet part and was there for the surgery and the recovery.   I started my LapBand journey at 310 lbs. and as of yesterday I am down to 262...(48 pounds) the lowest I have been in 5 years and I am feeling great and excited and supercharged ready to knock out another 48 pounds!!!!!
