Almost 3 weeks out! Where has the time gone?
Sep 20, 2012
WOW. Almost three weeks out. It's really crazy to think I only had my sleeve done almost 3 weeks ago. I haven't had any complications yet (Praise God and knock on wood). I've lost about 21 pounds and my surgeon said I already lost 23% of my body fat. What have I been doing? Sip Sip Sip Walk Walk Walk. That is my mantra. Oh, and going to school walking up and down stairs, light cleaning my backyard and organizing tupperware drawers. I was a little disappointed because I haven't seen a drop, but I know it will happen. Getting protein is still me relying on protein shakes a little bit, but I'm fine with that. I think I might be losing inchs instead of pounds but I'll have to start measuring to see if it's true or not. My protein of choice is chicken, so I love home-made pureed chicken with a little pepper. Yum! That's about it for me. Just planning ahead and making meals if I know I have to go somewhere to save money and me from starving. =) I hope everyone out there is doing well. For my two friends that just had surgery: Congratulations! I was praying for you both to do just fine. This is a huge step and I'm glad we are all on the road to recovery and wellness together. Happy healing everyone!

1 week and 1 day post-op!
Sep 08, 2012
Yesterday was my one week post-op. I was just concerned about getting to my psychologist appointment by myself. I didn't take my pain med so I could drive myself there. We had a good talk, and she kinda made me a little nervous about slowly moving through the diet. She's had a lot of bariatric patients see her and apparently once they move past puree stress hits them because now they conciously have to make a choice for the right foods. I'm taking one day at a time, and will continue doing this, but it did have me scared for a minute. Anyways, I just wanted everyone to know that my highest weight recorded was 290. The day I went in for surgery I was 260. Today, I am at 240. Here's to the 85 pounds I'm going to ditch forever!!! =)
Everything is going great EXCEPT for my stool softner. IT IS ACID!!! I think it ripped a layer off the back of my throat. So I refuse to take it. =/ I'm going to make my doctor taste it and see if he can tolerate that stuff! LOL. I think you shouldn't be able to prescribe something if you can't handle the taste of things....just saying...Well that's it for now. I hope everyone is doing well on their liquid diet/surgery/post op activities. Happy healing everyone! ^_^

Days 5 and 6 Post-Op
Sep 06, 2012
Well, Day 5 was great. I'm slowly becoming unstoppable. Got in my 60 grams of protein and my 32 ounces of water. I can walk my dog now, and I walk a little bit farther each time we go out. I called my psychologist, because I just really need to talk some things out with her. So I have the appointment Friday...
Day 6: I have an abnormal pain in my abdomen that isn't anywhere NEAR my surgery site. I called my nurse and he told me it possibly could be a reaction to a shot (Heparin- a blood thinner) that I am feeling now or just a muscle that I had never used before. Either way, he said he will get in touch with my surgeon and tell me what my surgeon thinks. It is a horrible, horrible pain. It kinda felt like something was stretching out and very painful. It also gives me inital pain when I go to sit or stand. =/ But anyways, that is my day so far.
First NSV= I can fit into a 1X shirt, instead of 2X or 3X!!! Yay! =D

A quick 4 day update!!
Sep 04, 2012
Day of and Day 1: So I had my VSG done o Friday, August 31, 2012. Pain wasn't too bad until I tried to get up and walk around. I was bent over like an old lady walking with my IV cart. I don't remember too much, I was SO out of it. But it was nice my family came and visited me, even though I don't remember wht we were talking about.
Day 2: I was still in the hospital but doing a lot better. I could stand up straight and walk, and the nurse was telling me that I could go home. I was excited. I had a lot of gas, but no gas pains and no BM. They let me go home and I climbed the stairs up to my bedroom. =)
Day 3: I got a bruise from trying to walk my little pomeranian. I am following the food log 100% and I feel great! Not full or hungry. (Although, I DO feel kind of fat sipping all day long, even though it's not much...LOL)
Day 4: I am slowly becoming unstoppable on the stairs at home. I do get winded trying to dress and undress myelf. I just have to laugh because I know things will get better. =)
That's the update so far hope to do it again soon! Happy healing everyone! =)
