Stall or done?
Jul 31, 2010
Is there such thing as a 5 month stall or am I done losing weight? I have lost 95 pounds and I am very happy with that but I was hoping to lose about 35 more. My Dr. says I should lose more but it has been a long time since I have seen the scales move. Any suggestions?

I was just wondering how everyone in the Vestal group was doing. I have not been to group the past 2 months and I won't make it this month either because I will be out of town. Hope everyone is doing good and I look forward to seeing everyone in May!

I had my surgery Nov 3!!!
Nov 08, 2009
Well D day has finally come and gone. I survived surgery and am on the road to recovery. RIght when I came out of surgery I felt good. Not great obviously but I felt a lot better than I thought I would. I got out of bed that same night. The only thing that annoyed me the first night was this new study they are doing which involved an extra flap on the oxygen tubing that goes right over your mouth. It hooks up to a machine that measures basically most of your vital signs like oxygen level, respirations, co2 level, heart rate. Well that thing beeped ALL night long. And having that flap over my mouth all night and most of the day the next day made me uncomfortable. Was very glad when they finally took that off. Second day in the hospital I stated out pretty comfortable. They did the leak study which involved swallowing stuff while they did an xray. I must have taken too big of swallows because my tummy kinda killed afterwards. After the leak test came back good they discontinued pretty much everything, the annoying oxygen contraption, my IV and IV pain meds, and my catheter. I had it in my head that I NEEDED to take a shower as soon as all that stuff was off so I did. That took soooo much out of me! After that my first day post op was my worst day by far. The pain in incredible. Of course I had pain in my stomach but I was also having pain from my shoulders down my back and my ribs were sooo sore. They were giving me 2 percocet which did work but it didnt last the 4 hours and I was in a crazy amount of discomfort. Finally in the middle of the night I couldnt take it anymore and asked the nurse to give me something extra for pain. They gave me Demerol and phenergan which I do think helped a little bit. The next day I was supposed to go home. I was seriously wondering if going home was the right thing because i was barely able to drink anything and i was still so uncomfortable. It was actually kind of scary to me because they brought me a tray of clear liquids and I didnt touch any of it. But when the Dr. came around I agreed I wanted to go home. I had an hour drive home so I was also scared of that being really uncomfortable but didn't leave until I could have another dose or percocet which was good because my ride home was pretty comfortable. It ends up I am glad I came home that day because my recliner at home ended up being more comfortable than the chairs they had in the hospital and it was more comfortable than the hosptial bed. Seems like everyday has been getting a little better. I'm down to taking one percocet at a time and I can wait longer in between doses. I woke up really uncomfortable with bloating and I just felt like I needed to pass a lot of gas but I walked around a lot and finally got rid of some of it. As far as my surgeon Dr. Rahman goes. I was skeptical at first but during the endoscopy and the surgery and throughtout the hospital stay I thought he was excellent.
