Jeffery A. Loman

"Dr. Loman is a great man. I think as a person he is great and I love him dearly. However, he is not supportive at all when it comes to WLS. He has made me jump through loops and after 12 months I still have not had surgery. I changed PCP's so I can have surgery. "

Baptist Hospital of Miami

"I think the parking situation is ridiculous. For someone who is MO it is a LONG walk to the main entrance. I was so out of breath by the time I got there. Other than that I had a great tech helping me during my sleep test. She asked me alot of questions about WLS and we shared quite a bit. My sleep test was no good because I didn't sleep enough, but that was my own fault and not because the hospital or staff was not accomodating. They tried."

Nestor De La Cruz - Munoz

"My first impresion of Dr. De La Cruz was his age. It was great to find someone who was young and fresh! I knew he was on top of hte latest research. He is bright, friendly, and personable. He had a wonderful sense of humor and definitely is competent in his field. He was very patient! He took time to answer all my questions. I really liked the way he actually looked at me and listened while I shared my trials for the past 6 months. I had already done my homework and knew most of what I needed to know. He was able to address my concerns and was so supportive. I know I'll be fine with him. I've had a hard time with another surgeon and group and his staff and his bedside manner was a breath of fresh air. He does have a very intensive after care program. He requires his patients to attend a support group on the first Tuesday of every month for the first year. What a relief to find someone who is competent and caring. Melanie and Amy were great in the office, too! I got the feeling that I was a person and not just another number. *April 10, 2003 - I wanted to add something special about Dr.de la Cruz - after wasting what seemed like months with another surgeon, I finally know why I was finally lead to Dr. de la Cruz! His follow up care is tops bar-none. He has been communicating and involved in every aspect of my after care. He is responsive and I am more convinced than ever of his competence in his field. I think having a skilled surgeon is critical, but having an outstanding follow up is just as important. Dr. de la Cruz meets both criteria. I'm glad I have him to follow me up through this journey! Thanks Dr. N! **more updates! There is a running joke in our home that we should get a discount for all the times we have been back to Dr. Nestor. Since my RNY in 2003, our family has had my gall bladder removed, a hernia repaired, a rare abscess removed, my daughter's splenectomy and my husband's rny. Now I have a hernia that needs repair and am exploring a revision. There is NO DOUBT that the only place to go is UM Bariatrics. I will have to travel considerable length, but it is more than worth the effort to get the best care available. I wouldn't let anyone else touch me surgically. By far the best staff and best surgeon. "

Susana Sixto-Rodriguez

"This doctor is phenomenal and very knowledgable! I am almost 2 years post-op and was having a hard time finding someone with knowledge necessary to follow-up. This doctor exceeds the qualifications. She works closely with my surgeon and knows what he likes done as far as lab work. She is caring, too! Thank you Dr.Sixto! You are the best."

Mercy Hospital (COE)

"I had nothing but problems. While some staff members went out of their way to make me comfortable, most were downright rude. Overall, I would not return to this hospital, except to be near my doctor. He was the best part of my experience. "

Anotnio Muina

"Dr. Muina was great. He helped me understand what was happening with my low iron. He also listened to everything I had to share. He was a wealth of information. I am so thankful I met Dr. Antonio Muina."

Mario Mangas

"Dr. Mangas was very professional and friendly. He was also punctual ( a real plus!). I asked him for a clearance for gastric bypass and he said "OH Boy!" But then was very honest. He said he has seen alot of patients do great, but that complication do happen and those few are serious complications. He knew alot about WLS. He was thorough, supportive and even said he would stop by the hospital and visit :) Great! "

Alfred Piniella

"Dr. Piniella had an incredible sensitivity to the person seeking gastric bypass surgery. He is also experienced in writing letters for the insurance company. I was able to get an appointment within one week of calling and the evaluation was ready within 24 hours! He does not take insurance but the self-pay fee was very reasonable...only $150. I was very pleased. I have to add that I was disappointed with the office staff. Because the office was over an hour away I asked that my evaluation be sent via US mail. It has been 18 days and no mailed copy. I did get them to fax me a copy but she was not happy that I asked."

South Miami Hospital

"I have personally chosen South Miami over Baptist. I asked Dr. Verdeja which one he preferred and he preferred South Miami, though he works out of both. He says they are very humane and will make me comfortable. "
