The Decision of my Surgery & the outcome
Mar 08, 2012
Let me tell you all that I was just as scared as anyone is when about to go into surgery! I will tell you that even though I was scared the recovery was not as bad as I thought it would be!!!
I am so proud of going through the surgery and the out come that I would do it 100 times over again!!!!! I followed the rules that my surgeon laid out for us and what to go by after the surgery and if you do what your surgeon tells you to do and ask questions if you get mixed up or don't remember things will go well for you also!!!!
I will say that it's not an easy road but it was easier than it was carrying all of that extra weight around!!!!! I was at 293 lbs. at my highest point of weight gain and I now stay in between 125 & 130 lbs. and I don't have any cravings for any foods. I don't miss the sweets
as a matter of fact they make me sick as a dog to my stomach and I have no desire to try and make myself able to eat sweets for that was my biggest weakness and I eat to live now; not living to eat!!!! I wore a size 24 1/2 in clothes before surgery and now I am in size 7-8 in jeans & small to medium in tops. I have went from a size 8 in a ring down to a size 5. I wore a size 7 1/2 to a 8 in shoes now I wear a size 6 1/2 to a size 7. I wore a size 11 in my panties but am in a size 5 now. I wore a size 38-39 DDD bra and now I wear a size 34-B and don't miss the triple Ds at all they only caused back pain. I actually love myself again and I give my God and my Surgeon the glory for where I am for if not for God and a GREAT Surgeon I would not have been a success!! I take my calcium, multivitamin with iron, and I take 2500 mcg of B-12 in sub-lingual tablet form. Always remember our post op instructions for life are more important than anything and it is something we need to keep up with for the rest of our life but hey; it is well worth it to me!!
Don't get discouraged if things seem to go slow at first because when your weight does hit your peak level and starts moving it will move faster than you can even think of; that is if you follow your Dr's. instructions, exercise and take your supplements you will be just fine!!
If anyone wants to ask me any questions feel free to ask if I can I will be more than glad to help you!!! I wish all that are just now starting their journey the best of luck and May God Bless & be with you along the way!!!!
Sincerely,
Karen morgan (leemorg9)

The New Me
Mar 05, 2012
I am happy to say that the ticker at the top of my profile is wrong! I really don't know how to do it but to date I have lost 166 lbs. in a size 7 from a size 24 1/2 in may 8,2010 when I had my surgery!!! I feel good and watch what i eat but actually don't crave any kind of food!!!!! My surgeon was Dr. Mark Colquitt and I would send anyone to him because he makes sure you know what all is involved during the weight loss and what foods to eat from day oe until you graduate to whatever your body can Tolerate. My husband says that he feels like he has a little girl running around the house! The Picture Below this post
Sep 09, 2010
I am so sorry for not keeping up on her and have left some ppl hanging around to see how I am doing. Well as you see the pic below I am looking better I was at 187lbs befor surgery and now am at 198 which means I have lost 111lbs. I eat what i can off of our foods chart given to me from my surgeon Dr. Mark Colquitt and I am losing a lot of hair I'm not bald but thinning really bad so I have started trying to get in at least 62 grams of protein through 3 protien shakes a day plus my other foods, lowfat yogurt, lowfat cottage cheese, my vegetables I get in a glass of low sodium V-8
juice I eat plenty of sugar free popcicles, corn on the cob shrimp Kabobs grilled which consists of about 3 shrimp on a stick (small ones) baked fish.
I feel a lot skinnier than I am but thats Okay with me I keep up with the scales and I am getting plenty of compliments which i am having to get used to. I never have taken compliments very well
also now when I get dressed to go to the movies with my husband or go to go someplace with my kids & grandchildren I feel I look good in my clothes.
I exercise at home in my house on a glide flow machine which is like skying only in place it works arms and legs. I exercise 2 times a day 30 minutes at a time and use hand held weights 3 lbs I need to get some 5lb ones now due to the fact I have gotten use to using the 3lbs and don't feel the workout so much with them anymore. I can't say i might skip a day but not often I have to keep the mind set of the new change or I am afraid I will get too flabby and gain some weight back.
I will be back and the next time I will have a newer picture of me now plus a picture of what i looked like at first start. Any questions you have will come to my regular email and I will get back to you!
Sincerely,
leemorg9

About 3 weeks post-op
Mar 24, 2010
I started out at 284 now I am at 256 that is 28lbs gone.
I am now able to eat a solid food slowly adding in others that need to be protein. I chose my first as a scrambled egg and then light-n-fit
Dannon yogurt.....YUM. I have to eat very slowly though to get it all in. I am getting my water in and a protein shake, but to tell you the truth I am getting sick of the sweet taste BADLY ! I am taking my building blocks vitamins & calcium but they are too sweet also! I think this is a way of getting us off of the sweets !!! Any woman that has had a baby while expecting gets sick of one food she craved while expecting and will never eat it again well that is how I feel about sweets at this point and time.
I want my vita men's and calcium to be where I can swallow whole instead of chewing. I am telling you they almost make me sick to my stomach and I dread taking them everyday !!! Oh yea, I forgot to tell you that I have been walking stationary for 5 minutes the past 2 days and it helps your weight come off better! I am having the sweats and weakness at least once or twice a day and I don't know why unless that is common or I may not need my blood pressure meds anymore. ??? I don't know.

need some Imodium big time but don't know if I can take it yet. I am still weak but other than this other problem I am fine so far. pray i keep doing as well as I am now with no surprises ahead!

Surgery
Mar 05, 2010
My surgery is only 3 days away counting today and I am getting kind of antsy. Seems so close yet far away if you know what I mean. I have so much to get done and am trying to stay focused on all of that. I need to get things ready for what to have at the hospital with me. I have to pack for my hotel stay separately. I think I will wear gowns to sleep in at the hotel and I can wear from the hospital to the hotel what I wore into the hospital.
I will have to put together what I can have by mouth at the hotel. I'm not worried about having what I need at home that I can have by mouth. Between my 2 daughters , mother, & husband that will all be met. I just have that fear of , you know when you leave to go somewhere you have that feeling I FORGOT SOMETHING? I am sure I am going through that now. I have always been a perfectionists so I worry about things I shouldn't and I am having a hard time to not DO that...lol
I am the type of person that wants everything packed and ready to go at least 3 days early and my husband is a HUGE procrastinator!!!!!! That's not helping my nerves too much at all. I would like to know if I am the only one that has this feeling of being so overwhelmed at this point and time!

The liquid diet
Mar 05, 2010
Well I started the liquid diet on the 26th of Feb. and it is not bad at all as a matter of fact you really get so full it is hard to get it all in. I am also taking a vitamen supplement to help me be in good health for the surgery. I am so exceited about this journey nobody around me knows how emotional this makes you on the inside around me. I wouldn't be so anxious if I wasn't going to be so far away from family when I have my surgery on March 8th except my husband will be with me the whole time. I live so far from the hospital that I have to stay in a hotel after being released in case of any complications.

My Surgery update
Feb 17, 2010
Well its coming up close now! I found out today I will be having my surgery on March 8th early that morning. The office called and told me that I would probably be the firstsurgery that morning.
I have had surgery befor and more than 1 major, I am brave until it comes time to roll down the hall to the operating room I feel I am walking death row!
Then I wake up and everything went well and then the pain
and recovery. This surgery is going to be the best thing I have ever decided to do for myself and my health!
So keep me in your prayers!
