7/15/06 - I have gone to one support meeting and am going for my very first WLS appointment tomorrow 7/16/06. I am ready to just do it! I hope that the process will go quickly so that I can have my life back. I am 31 years old and married with a precious 7 year old boy.
7/18/2006 - Today I had my Psyc evaluation. (400 Questions!!!!) I hope it turns out ok. I really got tired of answering questions!
7/18/2006 - Got a date! August 22, 2006!! WOW! I am having surgery within 37 days from starting the process!!! Now, that's pretty darn fast!!!
7/30/2006 - Went to SAMS & Wal-Mart today (Red Lobster Also) I purchased sublingual B Complex, Centrum Chewable Multi Vitiams, and Calcium Citrate + D chewable (carmel) vitiams. I also got a case of Crystal Lite, Decaf Tea, Splenda and a large container of Tang. I am so disappointed because I got the wrong Tang....It has 23g of sugar. I am getting a good taste of what it will be like after surgery to really read labels good.
7/31/2006 - Today I went for my pre-op blood work, UGI, Chest X-ray, Gallbladder ultrasound. I also visited with the finance dept at O.S. Hospital. While I was waiting in the waiting room, I received a call from Dr. Avara's office. I had to go in and discuss my psyc evaluation. Apparently, the Psyc evualation showed that I may have issues with binge eating! I spoke to Dr. Avara and his WLS staff and believe that the issue is resolved. I now have to keep a food diary, excerise, attend another WLS class and seek counceling after surgery. I am very Thankful that this will not postpone my surgery. It is still on for August 22. My next step is medical clearance form my PCP. This appointment is 8/15/06. Then I sign concent forms and pre-admit to the hospital on 8/18/06. Things are moving right along for me. I am happy and a bit afraid all at the same time.
8/20/06 - I went for my consent visit at Dr. Avara's office yesterday and also to the Singing River Hospital. I was very pleased with his staff and the hospital staff. I am getting a bit nervous but ready to be on the loosing side. So far I have only spent $695.00 out of my own pocket. $250.00 deductible, $250.00 to Dr. Avara's office, $45.00 Co-pay for my psyc. evualation, $15.00 copay to PCP for medical clearance, $100.00 hospital admitt fee and $35.00 to Ocean Springs Hospital (10% that I owed them). I am only entering this into my page to keep up with it, not bragging, just curious to know how much my total out of pocket will be. LOL
8/21/06 - Just got a call from Singing River Hospital. I have to be there at 7:00 am tomorrow. I'm getting really nervous. Oh and for the record.....don't try to go to work if you have had to take Magnesium Citrate!!! I have not been very productive at work today!!!
8/27/06 - Well, I made it through surgery! I am now on the loosing side! I got out of the hospital on 8/25/06. Surgery went fine, the only problem that I had was severe pain in my shoulder that lasted until the day I went home (8/28/06) The nurses said that it was probably just gas but Dr. Avara said that it was from the drain tube........He was right!!! I walked and walked and walked..... and the pain never went away but just as soon as they removed the drain tube it instantly left my shoulder!!!! The staff at Singing River Hospital was amazing! I did have questions about the dietitian's info versus the info that I previously got from the surgeon's office.......Anyway life is good and I am already down 10 lbs!! 240 now!
9/10/06 - I went for my 3 week check up Friday, Sept. 8, 2006. I have now lost exactly 20lbs since before surgery. I feel really good!
9/27/06 - Weighed Sunday, 2 days short of 5 weeks. I have lost 31 lbs Yippy!
11/13/06 - Weighed Sunday, 11/12/06, 2 days short of 12 weeks out, I've lost 49 lbs! I feel so good. I am down 2 pant sizes! I have gotten sick 5 times so far! I'm lovin' it!
11/24/2006 - Thanksgiving was hard! I really wanted to just Pig Out but I could not! I am happy now that I could not eat as much as I'd liked to because I am down 4 more lbs!!! I have not lost 53 lbs and I am almost 14 weeks out! Life is Good!
12/12/2006 - Weighed this morning.......I am now down 62 lbs! I am 16 weeks out! I am so excited I am now a size 18. I started at a size 22! I'm so excited!
12/22/2006 - Weighed today.............I am now down 65 lbs! I am 17 weeks out! Weighed 185. Life is good! I feel so much better!
12-31-06 - Weigh 183!!!!!!! Lost 67 lbs..... Weight Loss is slowing down. I hate that!
1-3-06- For the first time ever.I lost weight over the holidays!!! YEAH! Down to 181.....Lost 69 lbs! I am ready to keep it up!
2-3-06 Well It's been exactly one month since I have updated. I am now in a size 14 and down to 169 lbs! I have lost a total of 81 Pounds! I feel so much better. Even if I never loose another pound........I won't regret WLS!
03-23-07 7 months out. Weigh 154 lbs today. In a size 12! I feel Good!
04/03/07 - Last week was Spring Break for my 8 year old son. I took the week off work and he and I spent the entire week together. I know you are wondering what Spring Break has to do with WLS, well, let me tell you!!! On Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday we went camping, just me and my son. I took him swimming, fishing and bike riding! As I sat by the fire at night I would just Thank God for taking the 99 lbs off of me. I didn't really realize how much I was hendered until last week. Before WLS, I would have never left the camp site to walk 1/4 of a mile down to the swimming area, that was NO problem last week. When my 8 year old caught a fish and ask me, "mom, where are we going to put it" before WLS, I would have said, baby, just throw it back because we don't have anything to put it in. Last week I said to him, hold on baby and let momma go and empty one of the ice chest and fill it up with water for your fish. Not only am I no longer held hostage, my little boy is free also. I have also notced that I seem to have more patience that I use to. Anyway, just thought I'd share. (PS) down 99 lbs! Size 10/12 now.
4/9/07 - YEAH! I finally made it over the 100 lb mark! I am down 102lbs, weighing 148lbs. I am so excited. I am smaller now than when I got married in 1995!
5/24/2007 - I am now down to 140lbs! I just fit in a size 8 this past weekend, although I think they were sized wrong, they still fit! I feel so good! I have already taken my little boy to the Water Park 2 times this year and it's not even June yet! Life is good again!
08/30/2007 - I am now down to 132lbs! The scale is not moving, but I'm not complaining. I have been at 132 for about 2 months now. I would like to loose about 10 more pounds, but I am fine with myself if I don't loose another pound. I feel really great! I can now fit in a size 6, but an 8 is normally what I wear. I took my little boy to Disney World for the week of the 4th of July and was able to ride ALL the rides, walk and stay out late at night without complaining! It was good to see him smile! He wanted to ride every ride with me! I felt sorry for dear ole' dad, but I had to make dad understand that this was the first time in a long time that I was willing and able to do rides! We had a blast.
09/11/07 Down to 120 lbs and in a size 6! Life is good.
10/25/07 Down to 118lbs and a size 4. Still enjoying life!
