June 1, 2004 - I have been to Orientation! My Surgeon Consult is scheduled for June 24, 2004 with Dr. Aaron Baggs. I have a bum ankle (over a year now) but I will find a way to lose the required 10% weight before I can be scheduled for surgery. Keep your fingers crossed my Mom will be here for my surgery (she has Stage 4 Metastatic Cancer).

From January 2004 the "wheels were set in motion." I spoke with my new PCP to discuss some issues, then I dropped the bomb -- "I think it is time to consider drastic measures..." Dr. Poly Vela-Victa then asked if I was referring to the Gastric Bypass - yes. The same week I was seen by Dr. Grevin - Psych Consult, then came the Nutrician Consult. I was then informed NO CO-MORBITIES ARE NEEDED AFTER BMI 50+ Then came the three week wait for my PCP's letter to the Bariatric Board. Today, March 26, 2004, I received my Approval Letter. I still have a few months to wait -- Classes, Surgeon Consult, appoint a Case Manager -- then THE DATE. I had already started attending Kaiser's WLS Support Group in Martinez, CA as of February. I will update as I get more info... Anyone have info on making the process quicker? What do folks think of the Kaiser Program in Richmond, CA?
