I had a Vertical Banded Gastroplasty (Stomach Stapling) in 1999. I lost about 50 pounds, then have gained and lost, gained and lost, over the years. I didn't receive any support, follow-up or instructions after that surgery. (It was done by a General Surgeon.) My lowest, after that surgery was 235. My highest weight ever was 307. In the last two years, I had gotten down to 255, then my son got very ill, and I gained..... Now I am about 280.  I am waiting for a consult appointment, with Dr. Chae, for a revision. I wish I had a Gastric Bypass, with support, the first time, so  wouldn't have so many health problems now. I've had both knees replaced, and have severe Inflammatory Osteo-Arthritis, as well as Diabetes (I take Insulin twice a day.), High Cholesterol, High Blood Pressure, Depression, Anxiety, Hypothyroidism, Congestive Heart Failure with Left Diastolic Dysfunction and Sleep Apnea causing Pulmonary Hypertension, but all under control with treatment; thank heavens. I know the complication rate is high with revisions (65% I'm told.) but I want to live to see my Grand-kids grow up, and be healthy and feel good doing it! I've been doing Arthritis Aquacise on and off, and I love it. (The only exercise I love, due to the Arthritis.) I'm getting more regular with it now; I know that the surgery will go better if I am in the best shape possible when it's done. I appreciate all the friendship and support I can find. I know that this is a challenging journey, for all of us. God bless you all.
