Well, I was not a big person growing up. When I married my one and only at the ripe old age of 20 (we just celebrated our 30th) I weighed all of 145lbs. Having moved to Louisiana from Alabama was a culture shock as there is so much emphasis on food. Also at the same time I began working in the Oil field on a 7 and 7 rotation. Being offshore the food was great and plentiful but while working 12 hour shifts it was no big problem. Then one day I was injured and was out of work for the next 6 months with a pregnent wife. So I sat and ate with her while whe went through her cravings and the weight started to pile up. When I went back to work I began to work 24 hour call for weeks at a time and the sleep paterns were messed up as well as regular meal times. So the weight started piling on once again. I went as high as 220 lbs at the time. Since then I have been in office positions in the oil patch and the semi-sedentary life the weight has balooned up to 285 lbs. I have many of the co-morbidities and decided on the surgery after trying for years to loose the weight.
