12/21/06- what a busy time of the year. I'm going to try and get my profile caught up to date. I started this process almost 3 years ago, researching all my options, and went as far as to set a date to go to the first informational meeting. Family emergency made me postpone this meeting, and then I put the idea of GBS out of my mind until a friend of mine got it done and she was doing great. So, I decided it was my turn to do something for me, I made the call to set up the informational meeting june 06. I went back in July for the bulk appointments with the physical therapist, nutritionist, lab, and the dr., and then within the next month I had all my tests finished, found out that I have sleep apnea. That surpised me alot. All my tests besides the sleep apnea came back fine. So now all I was waiting for was to finish the physician supervised diet to be completed. My dr sent in the request for approval for GBS to my insurance co (GHI-FHP), and within a week, I had my approval. A couple days later I received a call from the surgeon's office, wanted to know if I was ready to set my date for the surgery...boy was I ever. My date is Feb 13th, 10 days after my 41 birthday...awesome birthday present I think.
I've been reading alot of information from this website, I'm on here quite a bit...just like hearing about others who are going through what I will be, and getting ideas, and learning from everyone..
