I am a 33 year old female, and I am long overdue to lose some weight. I am a mother of 2, divorced from husband and remarried to Laura, my best friend. I have been toying with the idea of having bariatric surgery for years now, and have finally just decided to go for it. I am now in the process of going through the steps to have surgery. I have attended an informational class, had my BMI read my the BOD POD, and just had my initial visit with the surgeon. My First step classes are scheduled for Aug.11th 2008, from there I have to see a psychologist and go to a nutrition class before I can have surgery.
I'm a little discouraged at how long the process takes. I was hoping it would go a lot faster. It took me a long time to decide to do it, now I just want to get it over with. It's really dragging on and on. I'm anxious to start losing some weight. I'm scared and excited at the same time.
I have been an RN nurse manager for years now, and am aware of the possibel complications, and that scares me even more. Being in the healthcare field, you usually only see the bad cases come through, not the success cases. That's why it's helpful to come to this site and see all of the success stories. It helps with the morale of the whole situation.
I am currently at my highest weight I have even weighed. I'm tired of not being able to buy clothes in a normal store, tired of not being able to sit in a booth or certain chairs because of my size.
When I lose the weight, I hope to gain a positive self esteem and become more active for my children.
