Hey everyone! It's now been 6 years since I've had my surgery as of December 4. I have kept the weight off (even 2 pounds under my 2 year photo). If anyone reads this and is scared of going forward, please don't hesitate! It's been the best thing that I've ever done for myself. I actually have a job now that keeps me on my feet and it doesn't even bother me. Before I could barely even go grocery shopping without my feet killing me! I only regret not exercising from the start because I'm pretty flabby and don't have the money to do the necessary "tucks", buy hey, that's what clothes are for huh? I have a 9 month old grandson now and he keeps me so busy that I think that helps keep the weight off. Also, I have never ever had another Diet Coke. My doctor's office warned against carbonation drinks and it's true. They bloat you and give you a false since of hunger. I know several people that had the surgery and drink soft drinks and they've gained all of their weight back. That is the God's honest truth. They claim that their surgeons just turned them loose without educating them. That's why I'm so glad to have gone to St. Joseph East for my surgery. They are really on top of things. OK so much for preaching. Jennifer, if you're out there reading this, I hope you're doing well and have a very Merry Christmas! Take care everyone. Laura

Well it's been 5 years and a little over 2 months since my surgery. I'm still so glad I had this surgery. It has really changed my life. I originally lost 141 pounds but have gained about 10 but thats OK. I still DO NOT drink any carbonated drinks. I've had some friends that had the surgery and their doctor (not St Joe East) never gave them instructions and they started drinking carbonated drinks a few a week then got back into the habit and 2 people that I know of have gained ALL of their weight back! Please don't do this! After all we have gone through why let a silly Diet Coke or whatever keep us from our goal?! OK. Enough preaching. I'm a new Grandma! My daughter just had a baby Wednesday, February 18, 2009. A little boy named Boston Storm Arnold. He's so cute and such a good baby. (Thank goodness). I turned 50 this past year and look what happened! Oh well. I wouldn't trade him, he's so precious. Also, this past year I lost my job. They did away with my position and I'm now working at a library part time and I LOVE it! I love being around the books and just the atmosphere of the library. I just wish I could get on full time. Well, thats it for now. I can't promise to write often but I'll try to do better. Good luck everyone, you'll never regret it. Laura
