Medical City Dallas

"The staff at the hospital was very friendly and helpful. The only complaint I have about the hospital is that they had me bring my CPAP and told me they would set it up for me while I was in recovery, they didn't. I couldn't rest at all while I was in recovery because I would quit breathing and the alarm would go off or my heart rate would fall into the low 40's or 30's and the alarm would go off. I asked about the CPAP machine and they said I would be going to a room soon so they would just set it up there. It was several hours before I did get into a room so I was pretty worn down by the time I got there. When I got to the room and asked about getting the CPAP machine set up, they said they would have to call respiratory therapy and have someone inspect the machine and set it up. Meanwhile my heart rate kept fluctuacting and going very low. It wasn't until my surgeon came in to see me that evening and the nurse asked her about my heart rate being so low that my doctor told her it was because I didn't have my CPAP machine and they needed to get it set up that anything was done about it."

Colleen Kennedy

" When I first met Dr. Kennedy she was very vibrant, informative, and I liked the fact that she wanted to err on the side of caution when it came to what procedure to be done. She preferred to do the gastric band on me because of my history of uterine and cervical cancer and radiation therapy. She stated that although surgeons that remove and treat cancer like this are very thorough about what they are doing, she didn't know what kind of scar tissue or adhesions they might find if they tried to do gastric bypass. This was fine with me as my husband and I had discussed it and I was really favoring the gastric banding anyway.rn When I was in the hospital and she came in to check on me, I voiced my concern about not having my CPAP machine set up. The nurse asked her about my heart rate going into the low 40's and sometimes into the 30's and she told them it was because I didn't have my CPAP and she gave directions for it to be done as soon as possible. She wasn't even out the door good before someone was helping me set it up.rn My follow up appointment with her was good and my impression of her has not changed any at all. She is a very competent surgeon with a great bedside manner, and I would highly recommend her to anyone considering WLS.rn The office staff has always been very friendly and helpful, and their nutritionist Lauren is a God send. They have a structured aftercare program with support groups available in several locations, making it more convenient for the patients."

Randall Perkins

"I see Dr. Perkins for follow-up on diabetes care. During my last office visit we discussed my weight issue and I brought up the subject of bariatric surgery. Dr. Perkins stated that at one time he had one of the largest weight control practices in the area and had seen people come and go, and return again with the weight back up. He stated that when a person has a genetic predisposition to being overweight, that surgery is almost always the only effective way to lose the weight and keep it off. He was very informative about the specifics of the surgery, how it was performed, etc., and he is very supportive of the decision. I had my referral to a surgeon in less than a week after our discussion."
