JUST AN UPDATE
Apr 03, 2009
It has been a long while since I posted. My weight loss has slowed down quite a bit, but I have to take credit for that. I haven't exerised much in the last two weeks, but I have been really busy. We just finished a revival at church (Go Riddels!!!), so maybe I can get in the groove again. A couple of weeks ago, I went to Walmart and bought bikes for me and Mark. The old saying is so true, "It's just like riding a bike" . It all came back naturally. Now, I sure don't remember my knees getting so sore 30 years ago when I rode.....I still get that same wonderful feeling of freedom when I am riding. I MUST get back to my Wii Fit also. It will fuss at me when I do.
I have had a total weight loss of 140 lbs (71 pre-op and 69 post-op). I have started being very open about my surgery, just got tired of trying to explain the great weight loss without mentioning the LapBand. There is only one thing I hate about everyone knowing. Before people knew I had LapBand surgery, they complimented me all of the time. "You look so good" "I am so proud of you" "I wish I had your will power." Now, all of the sudden, those same people never say anything to me about my weight loss. I am talking about people who mentioned it every single time they saw me. OH WELL!!!
JUST AN UPDATE
Feb 01, 2009
Just need to update. I haven't blogged since December. Made it through Christmas and New Year's without much damage. I am sure I have NEVER made it through those two holidays without gaining weight. I have now lost a total of 127.4 pounds( 71 preop/56.4 post op) and I feel great. When I first started this journey, I had a goal in mind that I thought I would be happy with. Well, I am only about 28 pounds from that goal and I now know that I will not be happy there. I will get there first, then I will rethink it and decide on a new goal.
It is wonderful to go into a restaruant and not worry about sitting in a booth. I can climb into the back seat of our van without worrying about how I am going to get out. I actually enjoy working out on my Wii Fit, don't mind riding the exercise bike too much. I am also thinking about getting a bike when the weather gets warmer. I made it through a terrible week of being snowed/iced in without gourging on food. Those are just a few of the NSV's I can think of right now, but there are many more. I have never second guessed my decision to have lapband surgery (not even when I was sliming or stuck). It was a very important decision that I made.
One of my major goals with this weight loss was to be able to sit comfortably in Roberts Stadium for my son's graduation from high school. I haven't been there lately, but I am sure I have already met that goal and I still have over a year till he graduates. One of my other goals is to be able to go to an amusement park and ride rides until I am done (or sick.)
I am hoping that I will be able to do that sometime this summer. Overall, my life is blessed!!!!!!

FOOD IS THE DEVIL!!!!!!!!!
Dec 11, 2008
I love Christmas, but, oh how hard it is to resist all the good food. I work in a doctor's office, so patients and drug reps are always bringing in food for us. Just this week, we have gotten cookies, popcorn, candy, homemade divinity, 3 loaves of bread from Great Harvest and my favorite, donuts from Donut Bank. I am struggling really hard to avoid temptations, but man, is it difficult. I have eaten a few bites of some things, but not near what I have in years past at Christmastime. I do think I may need to get a fill when I go back in January. I am really afraid to weigh in tomorrow morning
. On the good side, this week has been really great in another way. I have received comments from no less than 15 to 20 people this week about my weight loss. Don't know why it took so long for people to see it, but they sure are now. I love it, just hope my co-workers don't get tired of hearing me say "thank you".
NO NEED FOR FILL
Nov 07, 2008
Went to see Dr. Burry today for my 2 month follow up. I lost 11 lbs this month and he said I won the gold star for lap band patients that day. He asked if I felt any restriction and I said that I did. He did not want to give me a fill at this point because I am keeping my portions to 1 to 1 1/2 cups and I have lost weight. That was fine with me for now. I like being able to eat bread if I want it, but still get full on a small amount. I don't have to return for 2 months. (Like my new avatar???) I can really see a difference now. WOOHOO!!!
FINALLY!!!!!!!!! I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!

WOW!! IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE I'VE POSTED
Oct 14, 2008
I had my first fill on Oct 2nd with Dr. Burry. (5ccs in a 14 cc band) All went well except that he had a little trouble finding my port. Have done really well with it. Went on my trip to Texas without any complications. Got to start real foods too. Not having any problems except for some breads, but I definitely can feel a little bit of restriction. When I get full, I get a slight pain in my chest like when you eat bread or fries without a drink. But if I stop eating as soon as it happens, it goes away within a few seconds. I am assuming this is my "soft spot" for now.
