Long Time No Post...

Jan 05, 2010

I have made my way back to OH. I have been a bad girl. I have turned into a snacker and rarely eat meals. I have put on a couple of lbs...nothing much, but I need to nip it right now. I really would like to finish off another 30 lbs. I am soooo not done yet!

Most of this snacking has been brought on by the devil that is the night shift in labor and delivery. There are always snacks and pot lucks on the floor. New Years has brought on a surge of healthfulness from most of the nurses, so I will have some support.

I am doing the 5 day pouch test and am hanging in there. I haven't visited the bathroom this much in a long time. You know your water intake is bad when you are going on your 10th hour of a 12 hour shift and realize you haven't taken a break to pee.

Happy Surgiversary to me!

Jun 24, 2009

It has been a year and it has been great! I have had no complications. I have gone from a tight 28 to lots of size 12's, mostly comfy 14's. My diabetes and hypertension are in remission. I only take vitamins now. I am slightly anemic, but other than that, I feel fabulous. I just graduated from nursing school and things are just great right now. I got a job off my first interview and I wouldn't have had the confidence I have now if I hadn't had the surgery. I am in a bit of a plateau right now and I need to increase my water intake and exercise. I can eat pretty  much anything, but I don't.  I added a bunch of pics to my profile.

Long time no post...

Apr 09, 2009

Things are crazy busy in my world of Nursing school. I only have 5 more weeks until the end of clinical and finals! My weight loss is continuing to go down slowly. I feel fabulous! I recently tried on a size 12 pair of jeans at Express and not only did they fit, but they looked good. Not $71 good, but you know what I mean! I have post new pics to my profile. I just keep trudging along while everyone tells me I am melting. I love it!

A WOW moment!

Aug 06, 2008

My girls and I were watching home movies yesterday. In 2003, I was on Optifast and lost 100 lbs. The girls were marveling how good I looked on video. However, The very next vids showed me much heavier as I put the lbs back on. I asked them if I was heavier then or now and they didn't know. I realized I still had those pants in the closet. They were a size 20 and I haven't worn them since 2005. I was pushing a 28 before surgery and I got those pants ON and they were comfortable! Talk about a WOW moment!!

The scale finally moved in the right direction!

I haven't been in the mood to blog because I have been quite pissy about my stall. I just didn't have anything to say LOL!

Even though my 1 month pics showed progress, I still had a hard time with the almost 3 week stall of not losing any weight. In fact, I gained 3 lbs last week!. Now those 3 lbs are gone and then some. I hope it just continues now.

I pretty much tolerate anything I eat. I still favor eggs and yogurt, just because they are easy. I am never hungry. I have to make myself eat. I have discovered the Achieve1 drinks and they are yummy. I must find a local place willing to carry them so I don't have to have them shipped.

12 days Post OP

I am down 15 lbs. in 12 days! It makes up for the fact that I had to get my belly button incision opened to let fluid drain out from my hernia repair. I have to see Dr. Rumsey again tomorrow and see what he has planned for this gaping hole in my abdomen. YUCK. I want to swim!

5th day post op

Jun 25, 2008

I am totally off my pain meds. I still have pain, especially where they did the hernia repair, however, I can drive if I am not on pain meds. Being stuck at home is worse than a little pain. I am taking it easy, but I just want the option to go out if I want to. I am sipping and sipping and taking in an ounce of protein drink 5 times a day. I think I am going to go shopping for some of those bullets so I can get in more protein and less liquid. I have been pretty much just sticking to water since everything tastes "too sweet". I am walking a mile each morning and hope to start up at the gym again once I see Dr. Rumsey tomorrow.

I am home!

Jun 23, 2008

Thank you all for your well wishes! What a weekend. It started on Thursday for my pre op at 1:30. I had to be on clear liquids all day. I got registered for surgery at Scripps and went upstairs for our pre op meeting. They talked about the procedure, we got weighed and measured for a stomach binder. I ended up losing 10 lbs from consult to surgery. 30 from the beginning of the process. I had tried to get a place at Sommerset Suites, but they were booked. However, when we got to SD, we decided to stop in and and see if they had a cancellation and they did. So, after the preop appt, we went there and I drank more liquids. My surgery was at 7:30 and we had to be there at 5 am. They weighed me again and I got a pretty purple gown and cute socks with little paws on the bottom and a cap. I got my lovely IV and was wheeled into surgery around 7:45. The anesthesiologist was making jokes, and that was all I remembered until I woke up in recovery feeling like poop. I was very nauseous and I couldn't keep my eyes open. I got meds for the nausea and was in recovery for about 2 hours then I went to my room. I was very excited to get out of bed, I don't know why. I jumped right up when the nurse asked me to and was off and running. I was pretty bored in the hospital, so I just walked and walked and walked. That is about it. I had very little pain. They also fixed a hernia I had, so my belly button is a bit sore, but that is it. I am tolerating my ounce of liquid just fine. It is so hard to believe that I haven't eaten any food since Thursday and I am okay with it. I had two bites of SF jello and I felt my pouch full. As for energy, I feel the same as I did before surgery. I am so happy to be home!

I have a date!
