It won't be long for you now. I can not promise that this is an easy thing, But I can tell you. It is worth it. My life has changed so much since my WLS on June 20th, 2001. I am down 130 pounds. I feel 20 years younger and my husband Ed and I can do so many things together now. I no longer sit and watch on the side lines. I am again a part of my family. That is what makes it worth it, the discovery of life again. Good Luck to you. Heal fast the world is waiting on the new and improved you.

Hi, Kristin! I understand your anxiety - only in reverse. My 23-year old son is scheduled for surgery on May 5, and I'm a little freaked out, to say the least. All I can tell you is that I am trying to put everything in God's hands and not worry about it. An email friend sent me this message today: "When God brings you to it, he'll get you through it." Kristin: you are having normal thoughts about this surgery. Being selfish about this surgery is a good thing. You are telling your daughter that taking care of your health is more important than anything else except taking care of her health. The odds of dying with WLS is 1 in 200, but in your age group and good health it must be 1 in 100,000. This is not an official statistic, but then statistics are not necessarily meaningful.

Hi Kristin - I may be going to Dr. Aguirre myself. I am waiting for a decision on my final appeal, it's in the hands of my employer. They are supposed to give me an answer by 5/11/03. If the answer is no, I will be scheduling with Dr. Aguirre hopefully in the middle of June. I will let you know what I decide to do, but in the meantime I am very, very happy for you!!!
