Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at 9:00pm | So I have completed my 6 months of physician supervised weight loss...lets just say that didn't go too well but that insurance requirement is done. I have scheduled my psycological evaluation. I have contacted my physician and he is preparing his report and gathering my chart for submission. Everyone assures me that they will have their paperwork to the surgeon by the 15th of May. May 15th, the magical date that Cigna reviews their insurance policy on weight loss surgery. Please pray with me that they cover the gastric sleeve after their review. The surgery out of pocket is in excess of $25,000 and I can't afford that. If the insurance comes through I will have my surgery mid June or early July. I want to be approved as soon as the possible and have the surgery. I am anxious to have this tool to help me lose weight. I know that the weight loss will offer no cure or relieve of the thyroid disease I have but it will stop the issues with weight gain when the medication is off balance. I keep researching how long after surgery before I can drive and realize that I can't lift anything over 10lbs for the first 3 weeks and really for the first couple of months. Sorry big white kitty, but no picking you up!!! I will update in May once I know what the insurance is going to do...

Waiting for insurance to pay the nutritionist and then I will be ready to have my file submitted to insurance for approval.  Cigna now covers the sleeve so that is the surgery I am going ot have.
