Wow, a lot has happened over the years. I am proud to say that I have kept all of my weight off since the surgery on January 19, 2001. Last year I met a great guy too! So, things are going good. I believe the surgery is the tool, and then you have to do your part. I have always (since the surgery) tried to make better choices (not saying I don't go off the wagon once in a while with pizza or chocolate)! But, I don't eat the way I used to. There is no way, still to this day, I can go into a restaurant and order a meal and eat all of it. The portions are so much. Sometimes I can eat all of it in one day, as I bring it home and heat it up two or three times more. But I am happy that I can no longer eat the whole entire meal. Nor would I want to.
This is the greatest gift I have been given in life. If you are going to have the surgery, don't just think it will be the answer to everything. It is, believe me, but I can't stress enough how you NEED TO DO YOUR PART. From the moment you have your surgery, do everything by the book. Do what they tell you. Don't eat what you are not supposed to until the time you are supposed to, etc...if you want to be a successful candidate. Do your best to get to the weight you want to be in that first year. That is crucial.
I wish everyone the best of luck....just be a success with this. Do what they tell you to do, and make the life change. Beleive me, you will never want to go back to the "old you" and it is such a small sacrifice to make sure that you don't.
I wish you all the best!
