The scales said - 225.5 lbs this a.m. -Whoo-whoo! Went to the rheumatologist on Friday - more tests. Went to primary doc yesterday - more lab work and x-rays. Went for mammogram this a.m. and for more blood work afterwards. I'm depressed for no apparent reason, so the primary put me on some more anti-anxiety meds. The weight loss has slowed some but I know that I need to increase my activity, watch my protein intake and water intake to get good results.

I have been so excited about my upcoming surgery date on Aug. 24th, but problems are starting to build. I feel like I'm jinxed. After my initial visit with the bariatric surgeon, I was walking on clouds. Then, the next week, I received a call back from my primary doc who referred me to a hematologist/oncologist because of my last labs. After going to him two weeks ago, he recommended an iron transfusion. So, last Thursday, I spent 6 hrs. getting the iron transfusion because of severe iron deficiency. I was hoping to start feeling better, but I went to my arthritis doc on Monday and was diagnosed with a "frozen" shoulder. After multiple x-rays, my left arm is now killing me and I had to make another doctor's appt. for this Friday. I had two sets of company over this last weekend and I am exhausted. I need some prayers. I want this surgery so badly and I just don't know what I'll do if it has to be postponed. I tried to spruce up my profile but can't seem to get the hang of it. Well, I have groused enough for now. I have got to change my attitude and start thinking positively.

Thought I would give you an update of my progress. In the last 2 wks., I have had a 6-hr. iron transfusion. Last Monday, I had my yearly visit with my rheumatologist. She diagnosed a "frozen" shoulder and carpal tunnel in both wrists along with my rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. She did have me stop my aspirin and Diclofenac (Voltaren) to see if it will help the iron deficiency. I had shoulder and neck x-rays - neck showed arthritis. No surprise there! The x-rays were more painful than the doctor visit. I got a call back from the doctor Thursday and went in Friday for a cortisone shot in the front of my shoulder. I have 2 more shots (1 for the next 2 Wednesdays). It's going slowly, but I am starting to feel better.

Just had my surgical assessment yesterday and everything's a go! Yeah! I am so excited to be finally on the way. I saw my hematologist on Wednesday and my blood work showed that the iron transfusion worked and my values are within the normal range. My shoulder still has a few twinges in the a.m. and before I go to bed but it is much better than it was two months ago.

Well, tomorrow's the day! I'm all ready to go except for taking the Magnesium Citrate this evening. Yuck! I have received so many e-mails of encouragement and prayer. It's in the Lord's hands now.

Lost 18 lbs. since July 19th! Whoo-Whoo! Going out to walk this a.m. and will add to entry later in the day. Surgery was fantastic, but I did have a reaction to all the meds and went from 291 lbs. the morning of surgery to 319 lbs. on Saturday, the 26th (2 DAYS LATER) when I came home. What a mind explosion! But, when I started back on some of my regular meds, the stats began to improve. Thank the Lord and all those who prayed for me!

Trying to get back on track with my entries. Weight is now 275 lbs. and am still not having to take my diabetes meds. Have been faithfully checking my blood sugars 3 times a day. I am trying to get my protein in each day but it's tough. Don't care for the supplement drinks, the South Beach meal replacement bars aren't too bad. I need to up my activity as I am getting tired on the days when I don't go walking. Will post later in the week. For my birthday on the 10th, my husband and older son took me to visit my younger son and his family. My grandbaby Allison is changing so quickly. I was able to go for a walk with her twice while we were visiting. Something that I wouldn't been able to do 3 months ago.

Weight down to 273 lbs.! I see Dr. Hornbostel on Thursday. My husband found me a rolling seat/walker at Sam's Club so that I can walk around the neighborhood rather than driving to a store where they have carts for me to push to do my walking. We went for a walk this afternoon and it felt pretty good.

Weight finally down over the 270 hump - 269# this a.m.! Whoo-whoo! I seemed to be stuck there forever- fluctuating between 271 and 274 for almost 2 weeks. Went to my support group meeting in Sedalia and it was very informative. Two psychologists were there to talk about the mental part of the surgery and how to be successful. I am so lucky that my husband is so sweet to drive me to Sedalia for the evening meetings each month. I have night-blindness and it was raining very hard on the way home. I would never have been able to drive by myself.

Well, finally back from the National Middle School Association Conference in Nashville with my husband and sister. I lost 3 lbs. mostly due to a lot of walking. My sister and I took 2 tours - Historic Nashville and the Battle of Nashville. The Battle one was the best--we had an excellent Civil War Historian as our guide and it was extremely interesting. We had a great time - the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center was gorgeous. 3 months ago, before my surgery I would never have been able to do all the walking that I did this last week. The scales said - 254.5 lbs this a.m. -Whoo-whoo!
